This one is my latest remix for Traum, of a track by Microtrauma coming out at the start of March. I loved the eerie vocals and groove on some hi-end drums from the original, so I took those and built a new chord arrangement over them, sticking to a simple understated feel throughout....it's supposed to be a quite relaxed track basically, I must be getting old!

Over the years, Lo Recordings has taken pride in exploring a wide and broad range of sounds, genres and styles. To mark 20 Years of Lo Recordings, we are taking a fresh and bold approach with our output to further explore the accelerating and refined developments in electronic music today. 

This is the first of our new phase of releases, a collaborative project between the two titans Mr. G and K15. ‘A Learning Curve’ is exactly as the title suggests; an educational experience to understand each other musically and technically, and to explore new territories and schools of thought. 

As avid users and fans of the MPC, as well as being extremely busy, both Mr. G and K15 were given the same samples dug out of the Lo Recordings archives to each create a track which would remotely display their techniques and methods. This was quickly adopted to be the theme in a series of three releases to come out throughout the year from the pair. 

The results come in the form of Mr. G’s mesmerising ‘Navigate’ and K15’s introspective ‘The Guilt Within’; two very individual tracks in their own rights. 

‘Navigate’ is instantly recognisable as the work of its creator, armed and ready to bring the dance floor to hypnotic heights. With its rough and gritty sound, driving kick & synth stabs, and hauntingly majestic keys, we are thrown into peak of the night. On the flip, ‘The Guilt Within’ takes a turn to more ominous territories, crafting an atmosphere on the other end of the spectrum to ‘Navigate’. A beautiful and delicate journey carried along by light skipping percussion, immersive sweeping pads and a pulsing sub which all come together to take the listener deep inside themselves.

From time to time, you hear an EP and instantly can sense that it s going to be significant. Sad Girl Seasonal Affective Disorder does what few manage to do - it tells us not only a story from different perspectives but describes the journey of the heart and mind when losing someone we love - the conflicting emotions when we hurt and the evolution of emotions we experience as we heal. It achieves this by using a rich and diverse collection of sounds as its vocabulary, and a brilliant integration and structure as its grammar. Also, this strategy manages to give each track its unique character, allowing them to stand on their own.

KlubKid Records is a brand new record label dedicated to showcasing and supporting the queer creative communities that form today’s club scene. The first release comes from founder and Berlin based talent Stéphanie D’Olieslager a.k.a. Sherø with a remix from Electrosexual.
 
KlubKid Records is based in Berlin and draws on Stéphanie’s extensive professional experience as a producer, DJ, selector, and promoter. The label’s music policy takes inspiration from the immediacy and intimacy of underground house, Belgian New Beat, rave, and acid’s early years. In parallel to the music, KlubKid Records showcases the creative works of friends and partners alongside the label’s releases and artists. Previously known as D ́Stephanie and D ́Steph, this artist has released on Chez, Black Vinyl and Sonar Kollektiv, amongst others, and now brings plenty of freshness to this new project.
 
The single, 'Berlin Moon,' is a subtly uplifting old skool acid track with heavenly chords that are pure and clean. The elastic grooves serve to sink you further into a reverie as this timeless anthem unfolds with its warm 303s and serene pads.
 
Electrosexual has remained independent in the queer music scene for 10 years, and is currently working on his second album to be released in 2020. He offers a fantastic remix that is more direct: the acid here is front and centre but still dreamy and soft. The claps are more textured and make it a more energetic cut but still one stuffed with feelings.
 
This is a fine start to what promises to be a vital platform and label that is intent on fostering real community.
