A very special mix arrived from friend and hero @mattyskylab, returning with a “small tribute and journey into the exuberant, ecstatic, utterly beautiful sound of my hero in music Pharoah Sanders who we have just lost.    This is music that spans oceans, continents, galaxies and the human heart and soul. Powerfully political and liberationist, to poetically romantic. International, inclusive, and pan-cultural, it can sound volcanic, oceanic, or like a bird in flight, like tears or dewdrops. Sunrise and sunset. Furious, screaming mad or hushed and lilting, from the most massive and expansive to the most intimate and tender, this is sacred music for me. I’ve messed with some of it somewhat – it’s not for the purist. Some pieces remain untouched. Others I have layered, treated and rearranged. He probably would have chosen different ones 30 years later, but Selected Ambient Works is still part of techno's history, having influenced a whole subculture on the way as a result of an adolescent idiosyncratic vision of electronic music.
