After the passing of the fan favorite “Beast” and the absence of lead singer Eddie. The group had to find a new sound with the 3 remaining members. And they did. Combining hip hop with soul using a more distinct sounding 808 gave the group the title “leaders of the new world”. As they created two different musical directions in less than a decade. Stanley “twinkle toes” Sputum solidified himself as a super producer and super executive as this album was the first time it debuted at number under a record label owned by the artist. 
With all the success and the group going back to having Ken Roy lead with help from Marvin angelic voice and Stanley’s producing genius the album still missed the soothing velvety voice of Eddie and the low bass sensuality of Beast. 
The album See You In The Dark peaked at #1 and sold 4 million copies to date

Tell Me Where peaked at #3 on the charts. This song became a fan favorite even though it didn’t do as well as some of their other hits. It’s their most sampled song and is detailed as being the first song to use an 808 synthesizer that till this day cannot be found or duplicated. Their critics and conspiracy theorist believed the group got this 808 frequency sound from another planet.

This #1 hit was released March 9, of 1982 and spent 87 weeks at #1. Earning the group it’s first Grammy nomination for best performance and Song of The Year. The single became certified diamond in 1987 selling over 16 million copies.

Look Up To The Sky-1982

A street riddled song detailing the groups life before the fame. Beast is a great introduction to the street side of the group that expanded their fan base from a fun bubblegum funk group to a more soulful storytelling style. Beast topped the charts at #6 selling over 3 million copies.
