This smooth like the ocean song is a writing collaboration between Greg Hurley, composer/instrumentalist extraordinaire and Bix and Darcy Bixler, writers of lyrics and melodies. Greg produced all of it, including mixing and mastering, and he got the great Derek Cornett to do rhythm guitar. Greg did the slide guitar and jazz box guitar solos.  Wonderful result. Great tune, Bix swings with a great jazz trio PLUS for the first time ever, introducing the hot new vocal ensemble--THE BIXFOUR! Bix sings with this new group he found when he was looking in the mirror. These guys are pretty good, but cut up quite a bit in the studio. Got to keep them in line. This song has been sung since 1818, so 203 years later here we are, with a truly unique version of this wonderful carol. Robert Parrs arrangement and instrumental backing, Bix Bixler on solo and backing vocals, and Chuck Weirich with his gorgeous flugelhorn, all combine to make this a soothing, silky, soft like snow falling version. Kurt Elling is a master jazz vocalist whom I admire greatly. He uses his voice like an instrument. I have taken and modified one of his current hits, which is an orchestration that makes a new jazz tune out of this old Edith Piaf standard. It's a got a contemporary feel. I hope you enjoy this in the original language. Such a much more beautiful language for music than English. The contrast is amazing.

La Vie En Rose (Elling Version)

This foot-stompin' tune is a musical product of Frans Beelaard's brilliant mind, and his great playing. He and I collaborated to add my lyrics (a story of a footloose wanderer who can't help himself) and my vocals. You won't recognize me, but that's ok. I grew up on this music and it's in my blood. All you pickers and grinners out there, enjoy.

My Foolish Heart, a nominee for Best Song at the Oscars, was the theme of a movie starring Dana Andrews and Susan Hayward. The show was not popular, but the song has endured for generations and is a standard recorded by almost every jazz singer. Done here with a beautiful jazz trio arrangement, Bix and the Bixfour capture the smooth and romantic essence of this song.

I Love Being Here With You. Bix & The Bixfour. A Peggy Lee Tribute.

this heartfelt song was written by Edith Piaf after the death of the love of her life,  He was killed in a plane crash on his way from Paris to New York to join her there. It's one of the most beautiful and cherished of all French love songs, and indeed, is one of the most gorgeous hymns to love ever written. Wonderful piano only accompaniment.
