This week I touch base with a personal hero of mine, Mark Chadwick. Mark is frontman and part of the song writing family within The Levellers. The band have a story well worth listening into. Mark and I discuss the life of the band from headling Glastonbury to 300,000 {the biggest crowd at the Pyramid stage EVER} to the ethos and the foundations of the band. He's a genuine soul from the last known era of rock n roll, the 90's! They're still making amazingly relevant music, in fact the music they made back in the day translates even more today.

This week I touch base with Courtney Taylor Taylor. Courtney, as you'll know, is the frontman for The Dandy Warhols. The Dandys were a huge influence on many bands coming up in the late 90's and into the early 00's.  They're still making awesome music to this very day! They had break through singles that paid huge respect to incredible influences whilst still remaining truly magnetic and unique.

Trilogy (Part 1) May Never Be

This week I catch up with Julian Sancton. Julian has written a remarkable book about the Beligica exploration 1897 and the journey she and her crew went on in search of the magnetic south. This is a story of triumph over disaster and disaster over triumph. 
Julian wrote part of this during lockdown so it's quite a fitting read at times. Also it's not a hard sell this book; it simply romps along bringing an entirely new dimension to exploration that has yet been told. It's cinematic in its scale and mind blowing in its brutality. I had to read this book after Michael Palin told me too and I'm glad I did. 

If you haven't then I do recommend HMS Erebus a book about a ship by Michael Palin and also Endurance the story about Shackleton's truly heroic escape from the jaws of Antartica. It was a heroic age with men from so many different backgrounds and mindsets.

This week I'm joined by the wonderful BJ Harrison. BJ plays Denise in the Netflix series Maid. We had an indepth conversation about her role in the series and her own journey as an actor. It was, at times deeply emotional and turned out to be a real honour to speak with her.

This week I'm joined by somebody responsible for the track of a generation; ladies and gentlemen boys and girls Hayley Mary. I found Hayley's song Like a women should on the Netflix series Maid. Fans of this here podcast will know how much I've enjoyed that series and the soundtrack was a huge part of helping it move along so well.
I’m this episode Hayley and I discuss sexism, feminism and her views on those two mammoth points of discussion. We also go into (as is the custom on the podcast) her own journey within music! Hayley Mary - Like a woman should

You can wear denim or whatever you fancy to this one because it's Norman Blake. Lovely man of Rock N Roll!
We take a trip down Teenage Fanclub memory lane and get stuck into what makes a great band a great sound and brillaint journey. He's got such a iconic voice and the band have such a individual sound. Their breakthrough album Bandwagonesque was my intro to their sound and I've been a fan ever since, like many others.

Norman Blake - The Concept

This will be the first release from a forthcoming album. It's partly about the current political climate we live in but also delves a little bit into my time at school. I tried to create a character that is dissolution with his social predicament that ends up succubming to right wing propaganda. It's not as bleak as it sounds! 
The chorus focuses on an imagined political figure that uses propaganda to change the minds of millions within the U.K. It takes part around 2016. I wonder who I might be singing about? You can't break the heart of the nation essentially means you can fool some of the people most of the time but not ALL the people ALL of the time. I have used the question in the last phrase of the song; can ya? Because lets face it they did. The right sort of broke the heart of the nation but the nation hasn't realised it yet!

Simple really! I want you around i wrote in about 30 seconds, picked up the guitar and out came the riff. It's mainly about possessing the crippling ability to function in the past more than the future. It's pop by the truck load and fun, a sort of British take on Vampire Weekend with Wreckless Eric in there as well.
