Lessons in Disco - with the 3MF! 
Alex Saat, or preferably 3MF, recently released his magnificent “Now EP” on Emerald & Doreen and already is coming back with double dose of unearthly disco energy. There couldn’t be better title for his upcoming album than “Move”. Cause when you submerge yourself into this explosive funky title track you find your feet beating out a rhythm and your body tenderly shaking. Before you realize what’s going on you already  started to... MOVE! This gifted disco wizard based in Mexico describes his art as “Music for dancing with your eyes closed”, nothing more there is to say. With this exceptional EP - to do justice to tradition – comes along a  cheerful action pack of remixes crafted  by some of our label’s favorite virtuosos. Copycat slows it down a little and adds his trademark vintage disco synths and some sexy lush handclaps. Elektromekanik delivers a pulsating, laid back lounge reminiscent of Kruder & Dorfmeister at their best times. MATTIZD takes it to the deep house floor and gets it going for the club while Elektromekanik just cannot  get enough of the track and throws in an atmospheric instrumental dub version.
Finally the man himself brings it home with his insane 80s new wave rock “Digital affection”, quoting tongue in cheek the sound and style of famous Aussie band INXS. What a banger!

Jerry Bouthier’s label Continental records welcomes Mexico’s Bluehost to its continuously expanding international roster. Building a body of releases where love for songs with character and dancefloor principles cohabit on dj-friendly EPs crafted by authentic artists, the colorful, pop-tinged digital imprint springs back into action with ‘We Need You’ by Bluehost, a trio hailing from Mexico City which aims at combining indie moods and club vibes in one personal inspired Latin spell.

When DJ Alex González was introduced to Azzim Susano who was singing in a new-wave band at the time, the two 24 year olds into synth-pop and European sounds hit it off immediately and decided to form Bluehost. Cruz Antonio on drums soon completed the line-up. The band's name stems from its wish to combine the melancholy of Blue Monday, the third Monday of January believed to be the most depressing day of the year (almost certainly also a nod at New Order's electrodisco classic), to their love of hosting parties and making people dance.

With a funky rhythm guitar that would make Nile proud, quirky synths a-gogo, electro beats to almost breakdance to and a male vocal that’s as infectious as heartfelt to top the lot, ‘We Need You’ strikes a chord. These boys sure cultivate a sentiment of their own, injecting warm, impassioned, Hispanic touch and cool dance moves to their beloved indie-pop.

In the remix seat Pallace, the Frenchie who’s co-produced Zimmer's lately, opts for a driving house makeover, stripping down vocals and unleashing some proper feelgood Hammond chords and one of the catchiest SH101 basslines you’ll hear this summer. Next Sweden's Copycat, the analog lord renowned for revamping the 80s with style and skilled production techniques, turns out a piano-led balearic anthem that’ll have you throw your hands in the air before you know it. To conclude the EP, Bluehost provide their own dub remix which takes ‘We Need You’ one step closer to Manchester’s Haçienda and its italo-house heaven.

Following a fine debut release from Mellow Cat and Kathy Diamond, Comfort Food has turned to debutant Poolside Polari, a DJ/producer who has been turning out Balearic mixes for almost a decade. "Random Blocks" is a rather confident debut, all told. It sounds like the kind of sensual, synthesizer-heavy chunk of audio sunshine that should be sound-tracking slow motion, soft-focus montages of beautiful people reclining by a pool somewhere hot. This is particularly true of the vocal version, where an un-credited female singer beckons us to find her "at the bottom of the ocean" and "behind the clouds". That said, we've also been enjoying the original instrumental version, where chiming electronic melodies, crystalline chords and sun baked piano flourishes bob and weave around a tactile Balearic synth-pop groove.

Antonionni Sevidov, the grand seigneur of Electropop rests with all his glory -reminiscent of none other than Michael McDonald- on the alluring production of this new formation called The Socialites - that is St. Petersburg geniuses KLar&PF (remembered for their tantalising remix of "My Original") teaming up with German beat purists Satin Jackets. "Only This Moment". Now I get it.
