<p>Rafa Barrios is back on Agile and this time he delivers three tracks which truly demonstrate his mastery of the Groove.&nbsp; &#8220;Distraido&#8221; is led by a busy rhythm section which only comes up to breathe when spoken word passages appear.&nbsp; The mysterious vibe is reinforced by streamlined synths which are cleverly placed throughout.&nbsp;  On &#8220;Animals&#8221; we are treated to a more cavernous approach, full of suspenseful rises and tons of low-end goodness.&nbsp; Closing up with &#8220;Perfect Sunday&#8221;, things get kicked up a notch and grinding percussion steals the spotlight alongside moody, commanding stabs.</p>

The South African phenomenon Black Coffee has become well known in recent years due to his impeccable blend of house, infused with African culture and vibes. In 2012, ‘Buya’ was released featuring the stunning vocalist Yoshi.  The track went platinum in Africa in 2 months, bringing Black Coffee into the international spotlight. Now, Get Physical has taken the reigns and handed the track over to Loco Dice, M.A.N.D.Y. and Da Cappo for their remix wizardry.  

Loco Dice who has African roots spends his proceeds of the EP for the development of the new website, and the donation campaign for the Kliptown Youth Centre in Soweto, South Africa, a non-profit project that provides hope through tutoring, athletic, music and arts programs.  The returns will go to helping the heroes of the Kliptown Youth Center in Soweto, South Africa, giving kids a chance to create and express themselves whereas they might not have had that chance before. The youth is our future, and right now they need our help and support.

Carl Cox label Intec starts 2017 with new look artwork and a hefty release from Stephan Hinz. 2017 is set to be a big one for the Techno focused Intec and with Stephan Hinz coming fresh from a release on Pan-Pots label Second State, he was the perfect choice to kick start the year. 

Having also collaborated with Pan-Pot on a track called Tension, Stephan has a proven musical pedigree backed up by his back catalogue of labels, which includes releases on Nicole Moudabers Mood Records and Adam Beyers Drumcode. Returning to Intec for his second sole EP on Carl Cox's much famed imprint, Stephan has a background in making music for film and this love for cinematics can be heard in his dramatic production style. Whether it's an explosive and concise live performance, or a vibrant DJ set Stephan Hinz is a master at the controls, and his ever evolving production style fuses a variety of influences. 

The release opens with the mechanical rhythms of Off Numbers which has a menacing sense of intent, offset by dark undertones to create a nervous tension and spark frenzied excitement. Brought to life by the rising tones of the grinding bassline and the looped melody, the hard hitting drums make this Techno monster perfect for dark rooms and sweaty dancefloors. Track two titled Shaded is all about the bassline which bellows out from the bottom end to engulf the track in its devastating forward momentum. Patient and purposeful, the structure unfolds with the help of shuffling percussion that clacks and clatters like chains striking concrete, whilst the sinister melody part creates an unsettling sense of exhilaration.

Longstanding friend of SCI+TEC Alex Mine continues his consistent cannon of powerful precision-

produced techno weapons with the remarkable three-track ‘Elements’ EP.

The title track sets the scene: a hypnotic raindrop rhythmic texture cascades down the spectrum

while a fog horn bass groans through the moody mists. Already a heavily ID’d track in Dubfire’s

recent shows, this is one of Alex’s most arresting grooves to date.

It’s backed by the equally on-point ‘Omnia’. Pneumatic hypnotica with a palpitating bass that wraps

around the industrial strength kicks; there’s a pensive sensation of momentum that’s not dissimilar

to Underworld in its lolloping dexterity.

Finally we’re plunged even further into Alex’s deep psyche on ‘Substance’ where a pensive

cavernous bass groove groans and growls with measured ominousness beneath vibrant, shimmering

cosmic synth vapour trails that are guaranteed to hypnotise.

Sheer SCI+TEC sci-fi… Alex Mine always delivers.
