A Conversation With Juice WRLD

I had this conversation with Juice WRLD on June 29, 2018 in Berlin, Germany - about a month after his breakout project Goodbye & Good Riddance had dropped. A translated and edited version of this interview was published by German music magazine splash! Mag on July 4, 2018. 

However - mainly because splash! Mag's website has since been taken offline (R.I.P.) - I thought I might as well share the full, uncut conversation here.

I feel like this conversation gives you a glimpse of who Jarad Higgins was: a pure soul with raw musical talent. This kid had a vision. And above all, he had tons of love and positivity in his heart. 

A couple things to consider before listening to this interview: 

a) My English isn't perfect. Not even close.  

b) At the time when we had this conversation, Juice WRLD was literally just starting to blow up globally which is why very little interviews with him had been published back then. That explains why we go through some basic facts about his life and his upbringing and talk about the early stages of his career at the beginning of this interview. Some of it you may already know. Other stuff might still be new to you, even now in 2020, 2021, 2022 or whenever you might find yourself listening to this.

c) Besides that, please excuse me for interrupting him at times. I know it can be annoying for you while you're listening. But remember: It wasn't originally planned to release this tape for everybody to hear and Juice made it very easy for me to feel comfortable in this interview situation with him, so it actually felt more like a casual chat.

With all that said, I truly feel like it's worth releasing this as just another source of information for anybody who wants to learn more about the person that Jarad Higgins was. And most importantly, to help keeping his legacy alive forever. Even though I'm well aware that this is just a tiny contribution.
