90s style reggae dancehall tune. Kwame Ultimate spits lyrics of his new beau, his new Poochiloo. The song is about being ditched by an ungrateful lover then finding love with a more wonderful person.

Reggae Dancehall artiste Kwame Ultimate “da Alkebulan poet” is a peerless lyricist and songwriter from Trench Town, Jamaica. As a toddler he was captivated by the drumming and chanting emanating from a nearby Rastafari camp. Prior to joining and touring throughout the UK with London’s mighty Saxon Studio sound system (from whence came Maxi Priest, Smiley Culture, Papa Levi & Tippa Irie), Kwame  previously emceed on El Ringo sound in Clarendon after winning the famed Tastee Talent, Bohemia Talent and National Deejay championship for Kingston. Consequently he performed around the island including repeatedly at Kingston’s Ward Theatre, the Caribbean’s oldest performance venue. He also shared stage with King Yellowman, Tyrone Taylor and Ziggy Marley & the Melody Makers. Notably, he was part of an opening act for international singer Akon at London’s famous Hammersmith Palais in 05.

Kwame is inspired by great lyricists and cites Marley, Smokey Robinson, Rap and Dancehall icons KRS1, Nas, Professor Nuts, Tanya Stevens, Josey Wales and Super Cat as influences. “Echoes Magazine’s John Masouri once lauded Kwame’s lyrical prowess upon reviewing his Dancehall tracks Cocaine and Hello Poochiloo which both charted highly on the UK reggae scene. His first recording, the anti-apartheid ‘Down in South Africa’ was at King Tubby’s in Kingston, Jamaica.  First UK releases Galdelero and Sex were produced by Wayne Marshall of ‘G Spot’ fame. Then came biting social commentary with the dub infused Mr. Dutty Bablylon. A slew of dancehall tunes ensued on the MCS label, including Blakk 2 Basics, Daddy fi dem, featuring Saxon’s Daddy Colonel, International Gangster, No virgins in England and Stop shoot up the dance. 

Kwame took a break to focus on family & law studies before ultimately opting for lyrics & drum rolls over court and legal scrolls. He is currently finalising his 7 track EP titled P.T.S.D. on his Alkebulan Muzik Klubb label having returned with the Covid19 inspired rootz song, Awakening. Family Can Kill U  is the 2nd single and latest song Conquerors is currently playlisted on Spotify.
