The held hand/held breadth justaposition is really well written. This has a nice cyclical feel of love lost and found again.

“Cosmic ruins” -- really like that concept amidst the more direct and tangible imagery in here. The part about senses returning really resonates with my work/training in trauma sensitive approaches to health care, fitness and yoga. Great song!

Week 35 Prompt: Batter Up!

Note about the song: I'm actually not old enough to have actually seen some of the baseball players mentioned in this song, but honest to goodness, my little toddler heart swooned for Paul Molitor, who left the Milwaukee Brewers to play for the Toronto Blue Jays.

well i remember when i was just a kid
we'd pile into that pick-up truck and we'd get on in
and we'd head down to County Stadium
down in ol' Milwaukee
cheering on the Brewers with soda and coffee

always had a bag of snacks
forget those cheap crackerjacks
peanuts and starburst and licorice galore
screaming out the players' names
even though we'd missed the '82 team 
just the same still got to see some of the big time stars

like Robin Yount, Rollie Fingers, 
and my favourite one of all, 
Paulie Molitor before he went on to 
Toronto and all
i'd scream and i'd hoot and 
i'd holler with the best
scream, "Batter Up! Uh, who's next?"

and all those times when we 
couldn't get down to the game
down at the ballpark, it didn't matter, 
we could listen just the same
to Mr. Baseball himself, Bob Uecker, 
calling out every play
"Batter Up!" i'd listen to him say

oh those sweet memories
they stay with me
listening to the baseball game with my family
hearing the sound of the ball crack against the bat
oh i'll remember nights like that

So... I think this is the final version of this song.  Chords and melody are different than the last version.  

Been working on it for a couple months, so perhaps it doesn't qualify as a SAW submission -- but it is because of SAW that this song exists.  Enjoy!
