I'm not sure if it's better described as simple brilliance or brilliant simplicity, but I think you have either one or both of those. I love this, the gentleness on the surface and subtlety of the story underneath, and your voice so perfectly offers it for my ear, no insistence but so much patience.

oh Niki I really love this one! Maybe partially bc I've kept chickens and have a soft spot in my heart for them. Even though "little girls" is the lyric I felt/heard it as being about middle-aged women (probably bc I am one :)
