This week I took opioid medication for my chronic pain for the first time. The severity of this pain ramped up after I started taking Seroquel, an atypical antipsychotic used as the second line of defense against bipolar disorder after Lithium monotherapy proves ineffective. While effective in treating my depressive symptoms, after a year of taking Seroquel my pain shifted from challenging to debilitating, and I developed a heat sensitivity which prevented me from moving when temperatures rose above 90 degrees outside, no matter what the temp was indoors. Nobody understood it, and because doctors had never seen it before, they didn't believe me. After discontinuing Seroquel, my heat sensitivity vanished, but the pain remained.

This joint has been on the hard drive for 3 years. Side Effects out now. 💊
