To celebrate the launch of Grey Matter we are kicking off a mix series on our SoundCloud. The series will include guest mixes from the artists playing on the night, starting with Grey Matter 01. This will provide a platform to showcase the different sounds and styles to expect from the line-up. 

We jumped straight into this mix starting at a high tempo which we pushed throughout. Incorporating tech and deeper minimal sounds we curated a short 30 minute set, with the dancefloor on the 25th in mind.

Next up on the bill is HOT2, coming off the back of their successful debut show in the Soundhouse. For this mix the pair put together a 30 minute selection, showcasing their finest blends of tech and vocal driven house. Their sound is tailored to the dancefloor, facilitating for all tastes. Expect high energy rollers from the lads on the night.

With years of experience being punters on the dancefloor, their passion for music has grown and evolved. The lads are now hot off the block and we are expecting a big year ahead for them.

Grey Matter 01 // Launch Mix // Jack Whelan

Opening up the main room for Grey Matter 01 is Jack Whelan. No stranger to the scene, Jack has played in venues across the city, holding down a residency in the Well Dublin. An established producer, his sound features deep minimal baselines and boppy lively rhythms, accompanied by tasteful vocal chops. 

Jack gave us the flavour of what he is about in this 30 minute mix. Listen for high octane straight minimal grooves, which provides easy listening and a short sample of what is in store on the 25th of March.

We are very excited to have Jack on-board.

Grey Matter 01 // Launch Mix // Murka

Closing out the terrace this Saturday is Murka. Expect deeper minimal cuts and flavours for this set as Murka takes a dive under the surface of the minimal genre exposing more submerged rhythms and tracks. Murka is familiar with the scene having played shows across dublin including a live set in the button factory. Based in Berlin for many years, its clear to see that this has influenced his musical taste and selections while also peppering in some of his own productions.

For this mix he sticks to the same principles and provides a sample of his deeper tendencies and rominimal influences complete with robust basslines and hypnotic synths and pads. He keeps to the same style for the duration of this mix making for a smooth hour of listening. We are buzzing to have Murka back behind the controls and it will be a real treat to see him close out the terrace party.

Grey Matter 01 // Launch Mix // Buckley 

Kicking off terrace proceedings this Saturday is Buckley. He has been immersed in club culture for years now, living abroad in different cities exposing him to different strains of club culture. After many years honing his style and technical skills, he decided to push himself to make his first club appearance. Expect house,deep house and minimal from the get-go. Here’s a quote from the man himself: 

"Me and lads go way back. Im delighted to be given the opportunity to play at Grey Matter 01, really looking forward to saturday, good energy with good people" 

For this mix he lays down some smooth minimal house tracks accompianed by disco inspired groves. This makes for 50 minutes of selections filled with clean transitions and feel good house rhythms. Buckley plants in an assortment of well recognisable tracks with the aim to get the crowd moving on the night.

We look forward to him pressing play and kicking off the party this Saturday.

Special Branch: bonded by blood, this pairing of dance music enthusiasts describe their love of dance music in one word: Passion. 

Adam and Shane are cousins and friends who have spent over a decade on dance floors together all around the world. Both possess a deep rooted passion for all forms of dance music, from hard hitting techno to melodic house. 

Each with their own musical and DJ experience over the years, they are ecstatic to be coming together to play in front of a crowd in what they have described as being a truly special moment for them both.

Blancnoir is a duo consisting of Andrew Guilfoyle and Seán Connaughton. Both are 23 years of age and from Artane, North Dublin. They have quickly established themselves in the underground music scene, playing in some of the top clubs in the country including Index, Button Factory, Bow Lane Social Club and The SoundHouse. 

Andy has 3 years’ experience playing in the club circuit. He has fostered a deep passion for minimal sounds and has  supported artists such as Josh Butler, The Willers Brothers and Andrew Azara. 

Seán early background in music combined with a developed understanding of mix theory has facilitated his quick take to the scene. 

The pair have been close friends for over 10 years. The decision to join forces under the one banner came after several successful b2b performances. Moving forward they are keen on pushing the sounds through live shows and music production.
