Holy water

'Lost in translation', written and produced by Amith Vinod (@_amithvinod_), has both a superficial sense and also an underlying meaning to it, about the inability to communicate (or 'speak your heart out') and about getting "lost in translation". 
 
In the literal sense, 'Lost in translation' talks about the feeling of how difficult it is to communicate and be understood by those around you, when you are someone in a foreign land and you barely know their language. Conversations just go over and above your head, and you only somehow manage to return a nervous titter or a rather dubious and awkward nod to whatever they might have said.

But in a much deeper sense, it talks about the feeling of not being able to relate to those around you. When one feels like a foreigner in a very familiar place. When you try your best to communicate what you really feel, but "these words they freeze, right out here up on your tongue", and all you are left with is silent tears streaming down your face. 


Often it is the inability to do this simple thing, of being able to speak out what you really are feeling, that causes people to fall into depression or God-forbid, other worse measures they take in their desperation. This song aims at highlighting such a state where you are unable to speak out your heart to those around you, often because you think they can't relate with you, and the feelings of isolation, despair and hurt that accompany it. 


The song closes with a description of how the bundled up emotions finally fall down as rain. The picture painted is of the emotions pouring out as rain falls over one's head and weighs you down like wet clothes weighing down on you. And the narrator wishes that everything would be sunny and bright again and that the gloomy dark clouds of hopelessness would pass away sooner.
