38 minutes of the Dawn chorus on May 2nd 2021 (Dawn Chorus Day) recorded outside our summerhouse in rural Suffolk, England.

Dawn Chorus May 2nd 2021

In many villages across the country double-muffled bells were rung at noon every day for a week to mark and mourn the death of Prince Philip. This recording is from my own village, Haughley in Suffolk, England. The resulting sound has a beautiful ringing harmonic that has the quality of a vast gong-bath sending out healing into the world. 
I love it.
The clock strikes twelve followed by one hundred chimes.

This essay has been such a huge influence on me recently that I think it deserves and needs to be more widely known. I have recorded it here in it's entirety and although it refers most directly to North America it is relevant to every continent now more than ever. The ambient sounds were recorded in Pin Mill and Haughley, Suffolk.

The Meadow across the creek

A tour of an industrial estate reveals some surprising wilderness. 
My first recording of this kind, done on my phone, I apologise for the sound quality but I hope you will enjoy the content none-the-less.
(Gorse flowers by the way, smell of coconut and I confused Borage with Comfrey as for some reason I often do - it's a sort of wildflower dyslexia!)

A self-enriching attitude is so normal in Western society that we rarely question it. This is a frame of mind that permits, indeed encourages a entirely disconnected approach to other people and more importantly to the natural world.
