The owner of this mouthpiece asked if it was possible to repair such a drastic break.  I like a challenge so I rebuilt the broken tip and reinforced it with carbon fiber.  The repair will always be visible but the mouthpiece plays like new again!     I'm not a very good Alto player but this is just a quick recording to show the tone that this Vintage mouthpiece produces.

Paul Desmond has such a beautiful sound and his vibrato is so refined. 
I transcribed it and did my best to try and emulate his sound but - holy cow - that cat can play! 
The Desmond version had the sax panned hard to one side so I was able to mute that side and get a backing track with just the guitar and percussion.   There is a little bleed-thru so you can hear Desmond faintly in the background in places.

I just started practicing this Bob Mintzer etudes book. This is my attempt so far - I still have a lot of work to do with my phrasing etc.

Shuffle de-Funk - YTS-62 and Lawton 8*BB

This is the first etude from Bob Mintzer's book.  This is to demonstrate a Sugal metal mouthpiece that I refaced to a .121" tip.  I mainly wanted to show how delicate and warm it can be even though it has an aggressive baffle and a large tip opening.  It can also really scream with a lot of power and as much edge as you want.  It's a very versatile mouthpiece and is much easier to play than you would think given the .121" tip :)

I just finished refacing this vintage Geo. M. Bundy hard rubber mouthpiece.  It's got a large, round chamber but when you open the tip that much, it leaves material behind the tip rail that needs to be reshaped so I gave it enough baffle for a bit of modern sound while still keeping the warmth from the large chamber.

I used an AI vocal remover to create the backing track from Dexter's live performance and then recorded myself on my Yamaha YTS-62 tenor with a large chamber, medium rollover baffle mouthpiece of my own making.
