Rust & Bones – The plot

Godfroy Boneman made his fortune in the Xth century after buying his first relic for display in his village chapel. The foreskin of baby Jesus, which gave rise to the congregation of worshipers of the holy foreskin, brought him so much money that he decided to go on a crusade to find many other relics with equally lucrative potential. No opportunity escaped him. Whether it was holy bones or holy artefacts, he traveled across Europe and the Orient in search of relics that could be rented or resold to churches or bishoprics. He had managed to recover so many pieces of the cross of Jesus and holy shrouds that it would have been possible to build a three-masted sailboat with the sails using all these relics. He was particularly proud to have found the still bloody rock that David had used to slay Goliath. The fish Jesus had accidently stepped on while crossing Lake Tiberias had been particularly difficult to certify, and the adventure had left Godfroy Boneman with a bitter taste. Moreover, the three drops of the milk of the Virgin Mary contained in a blown glass vial had posed a great problem of conservation and had evaporated after a few years. Nonetheless, before his death, Godfroy Boneman had still managed to accumulate 69 Holy Grails in his vaults, all certified by the greatest bishops of the time as being authentic. Upon the death of Godfroy Boneman, the descendants of the Boneman family understood the magnitude of the business opportunity and joined forces with a Saxon banker from Leipzig to create "Boneman & Sacks Relic Asset Management Inc.". Over time, the Boneman and the Sacks family managed the lucrative market of relics in Europe and the rest of Christendom to generate billions of dollars from the supposed virtues of these relics. All the relics that are in deposit or awaiting rental by bishoprics are stored in a 13-storey crypt under the small chapel which in 1033 had been the house of the worshipers of the holy foreskin. Since that time, the alleged miracles and virtues of the holy foreskin have been questioned since more than 21 samples of the holy foreskin have been found at different ages and colors of Jesus. Dick Boneman murder mystery party started with the presentation of the rules of the game and out of nowhere the presentation of the most complete collection of Holy Nails. More than 30 crucifixion nails in different state of corrosion and made from different metals were presented even though it is well known that only 3 nails were used to nail Jesus on the Holy Cross (Triclavianism or the holy trinity nails). Some were still solid, most were bent and some were so rusted that the smallest sneeze would blow off the dust out of the reliquary. However, they all had holy blood on them, which increases greatly the value of those nails. When DNA was first identified in the late 1860s by Swiss chemist Friedrich Miescher, pope Pius IX requested that the upper management of Boneman & Sacks sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) to ensure that no DNA test would be made on those nails as well as any holy relics managed by Boneman & Sacks Relic Asset Management Inc. 

Then during the diner, Dick Boneman initiated the scandal by saying that the relic business model his family started a thousand years earlier was a total fraud. He announced that after the diner a report would be automatically sent to all the Medias in the world stating that DNA analysis proves that more than 95% of the relics in the world his family has been managing for the Christendom are not authentic or pure fabrication. Such an announcement would obviously have a catastrophic effect on Boneman & Sacks shares and since all the friends he invited to this party have so many shares in Boneman & Sacks, they would all be bankrupt shortly. Something sure, once everybody finished diner and went to bed no one could sleep until a series of horrific noises came from the chapel and had everyone really scarred. 

The only clue left was this skull on the floor of the chapel crypt.

Luc Clouseau is the proud son of the French inspector Jacques Clouseau. Having the same talent as his father for investigation, he is to police investigation what P.D.Q. Bach is to music, a total disaster. When young and since his first name is Luc, he identified himself as Luke Skywalker and he was wet dreaming about Princess Leia. Unfortunately for him, he learned in the third Star War episode that Luke and Leia were siblings. His space soldier career then ended abruptly and he decided to pursue a career in the police. At the beginning of his career he was shot in the butt and had to work in the office on a wheelchair for 12 months, which gave him the nick name of Ironside in reference to Chief Robert T. Ironside. 

Luc Clouseau was assigned to investigate about what happened at the Boneman Mansion. Hopefully he will do better than his father.

Inspector Looso's First Investigation

Dick Boneman wicked plan has been executed during the night. Indeed, the fraud was disclosed and the company shares lost 99.9% of their value. Early in the morning every guests of the party were calling their broker to get the news about Boneman & Sacks Relic Asset Management Inc. share value. 
The first guest finally receiving a call from a broker was Mrs.Peacock. What she thought was blue chip stocks were now bleeding red. The second guest receiving a call from his broker was Professor Plum. The lifestyle his lovely wife, Mrs. Plummy Plum, had made him wonder how long he would be able to keep his palace in Lisbon. The third one receiving a call from his broker was Mr.Green. Once he knew his stocks were now bleeding red, he needed to swallow a dark amber scotch. Strangely, his skin immediately started to have a green complexion. The last one receiving a call was the sexy Miss Scarlet, which is the mistress of a rich gambler and business man, which has the habit to gamble against share value. She was the only one getting good news that morning. The others closed their cell phone since they did not want to hear about their losses.
Dick Boneman vanished during the night and strangely, none of the surveillance camera detected anyone escaping the mansion. Inspector Looso's investigation requires to find the body, the weapon and interrogate all the suspects. Will he succeed?

Inspector Looso felt so much compassion for the huge financial loss of the guests of Dick Boneman party that he allowed them to pray and commune for their sins in the chapel before they get interrogated one by one in regards to the murder circumstances. Strangely, the guests agreed to pray using Malachi verse 3:10 as follows.

"Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this,” says the LORD of hosts, “if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until there is no more room to receive it."

One might wonder if all these people believe more in the income brought by the tithe than in the virtues of the relics provided to the churches by Boneman & Sacks Relic Asset Management Inc. Indeed, the tithe feeds better the bank account than the Ostia (Host).

When younger, the talented and beautiful Mrs. White was first cello for the Philharmonic Orchestra of “Dildo” Newfoundland, Canada. At that time she also was Dick Boneman’s mistress and then unofficial wife while she was enjoying luxury and … lust with this rich man. Once she got older, she was removed from the cello section first chair and as Dick Boneman’s mistress/unofficial wife because she was no longer that great with her bow and fingering technique making her G string to resonate badly and not as appealing as it was years ago. She then became housekeeper in a sumptuous Tudor Mansion for more than 30 years until found suspect behind the murder of Dr. Black. Fortunately for her, she was not convicted. However, all the accumulated frustrations has put a storm in her mind. Since Dick Boneman has now disappeared, could she be Dick Boneman’s murderer. But where is Dick Boneman's body annyway?

Colonel Mustard served with great honor during the Great War with Colonel Sanders and Sergeant Pepper. Indeed, they worked as a team in the cantina of a military camp where they were serving fried chicken to the soldiers. After the war, Colonel Mustard, Colonel Sanders and Sergeant Pepper founded with an additional business partner named Harvey Beerstein (Cap'n Crush), a greasy spoon restaurant called The Four Little Pigs.  Harvey Beerstein was known for his special way of whipping mayonnaise and undressing young Hollywood actresses. Unhealthy food and practices became their trademark. Some whistle blowers pretended that the The Four Little Pigs were shipping false relic bones to Boneman & Sacks Relic Asset Management Inc. but who really knows. Strangely, those whistle blowers vanished and the bone relic market went up just after.

Professor Peter Plum pretends to have a PhD in archeology from the University of OxDodge in Detroit. He worked few months at the Ashmolean Museum in OxFord before being fired for having his diploma forged from an unreal University. He was then employed by Boneman & Sacks Relic Asset Management Inc. as a relic expert to validate the truthfulness of the new artefacts and provide official artefact certificates. With the right incentive, Professor Plum could probably fabricate anything old and holly. The more he would fabricate and validate, the more money he would earn such that he could acquire an historical palace in Portugal to please his lovely wife named Plummy. One day he had the extravagant idea to have his wife, Plummy Plum, immortalized as a bronze sculpture well in view in his garden. The voluptuous body of his wife made a bold effect in his garden and a scandal in his neighborhood. Now that Dick Boneman revealed the fraud, Professor Peter Plum is at stakes and risk losing everything including his wife should there be a deep dive investigation on Boneman & Sacks business practices. Peter and Plummy are deeply in love and one could understand that Peter would be ready to do anything to protect his marriage.

Mr. Green is the self-proclaimed great great great great grandson of Henry VIII because of the strange resemblance he has with that king. That fraud allowed him to become bishop, but a remarkably indolent bishop. For centuries his family has been populated by bishops from father to son. Moreover, those bishops were good customers for Boneman & Sacks Relic Asset Management Inc. Indeed, for centuries bishops uses their influences and relics to control the weak souls of the country under the name of god and for the benefit of those bishop bank account. During the last years Mr. Green had to deal with a substantial reduction of attendance in all his churches as well as sexual abuses scandals from his priests. If Mr. Green had killed Mr. Boneman, what would be his benefit anyway?

Miss. Peacock was a fantastic ballet dancer as well as a famous fashion model showing up on numerous magazine cover pages. Her ballet dancer career reached a peak when she performed Odette in the Swan Lake ballet by Pyotr Tchaikovsky and her fashion model career reached the top when she made the Decormag Cover Page in 1983. Twice upon a time during the performance of the Nutcracker by Sergey Prokofiev, Dick Boneman simply cracked for her and asked for her hand. He took both hands for a tango and got married with her. Later during a ballet performance Mrs. Peacock fell on the floor and badly broke her ego. After that pathetic event the White Swan wasn’t white anymore and her persistent dark mindset made Dick Boneman to divorce her. A year after the divorce and in order to earn enough money for her costly life style she became “Mistress Black Swan”, some kind of a sexy fetish influencer wearing latex and presenting herself in a very provocative way on Pornhub.  She was eventually able to invest a huge amount of money in Boneman & Sacks Relic Asset Management Inc. that now worth nothing after Mr. Boneman fraud declaration press release. Mrs. Peacock mindset is thus deep dark and she is now a suspect for the murder of Mr. Boneman.

The voluptuous, sexy and very beautiful Miss Scarlett Page-Turner, commonly called “Miss Scarlett”, is the daughter of Ronny Page, flutist of the not so famous rock group "Led Vanillin", and Hazel Turner, full time pimp in her neighborhood brothel called “The Nuts”. Since Miss Scarlett Page-Turner was working for her mother as a call girl, she was assigned classy customers such as Dick Boneman. It did not take long for Mr. Boneman to understand how the big selling potential of Miss Scarlett would help his business. Mr. Boneman offered her a job in the sales department of Boneman & Sacks Relic Asset Management Inc. and she became sales rep for the North American Catholic market where she was meeting Bishops and Cardinals to sell them holly relics. The secret of her success was obviously the spicy extras she was offering during the sales meeting. Eventually, sales started to go low when Bishops and Cardinals where too busy dealing with sexual abuses scandals from their priests and having to hide them. Miss Scarlett lost her job as a sales rep and started a new career as novel writer. Her first and only novel “The  Bishops Secret Jewels” was a total success. Indeed, this novel was a real page turner. It was based on the unorthodox meetings she had with Bishops and Cardinals, which later were disclosed by journalist on the news. Could being laid-off by Mr. Boneman be a good reason to kill him? Naaaaah, she became his full time sexy mistress and his partner in crime for much worst sins.

Musical Note:
The double bass line at the beginning is based on the bass line of the “Lady Marmalade” song written by Bob Crewe and Kenny Nolan in 1974. The “Lady Marmalade” song is well known for its suggestive lyrics that you probably know very well. I was also vaguely inspired by the song “Scarlet” recorded in 1974 by the English rock band the “Rolling Stones” featuring guitarist Jimmy Page of the “Led Zeppelin” rock band.

Inspector Looso searched the entire manor to find the body of Dick Boneman and found him in a little study hidden behind the library and lighted by a candlestick. No blood, no knife and no rope. Dick Boneman was absolutely alive and perfectly healthy. However, he was laughing his guts. He spent the night preparing his fool trap. He had absolutely no intention to disclose any fraud report to the media that would put the value of Boneman & Sacks Relic Asset Management Inc. down the drain. Instead, he called every broker of the guests to setup a bad joke to his guests and the brokers made them believe during a phone call that their share had no value anymore, which was not exactly true. In fact, Dick Boneman used some of the asset of Boneman & Sacks Relic Asset Management Inc. to buy three Social Media companies, “Switter”, “Analphabet” and “Minigram” for 69 billion dollars with the intention to layoff every employee and replace them with Artificial Intelligence. He then named the new social media company Y. Y would be the greatest misleading social media in the world providing chaos and dumbness to every country on earth. This way Dick Boneman would be the new god of social media and lies. Consequently, Y would be able to help Ronald Dumm to become the leader of his country using stupid catchwords such as "Make Anemics Greed Again". Soon after, on a press release, Dick Boneman declared to all the shareholders of Boneman & Sacks Relic Asset Management Inc. “Rust & Bones is history”, our new moto will be “Mud and Shit is our Bread and Butter”. Dick Boneman is surely as slippery as a fish isn’t he?
