We've made an audio brochure to accompany our 2025-26 Southbank Centre season, 'Fantastic Symphonies'.

It's introduced by Grace Hill, a young artist who has worked with us on a number of projects, and features the voices of a number of the OAE team from both on stage and behind the scenes. It's designed to be useful to our blind and visually impaired audiences - we'd be delighted if you were to share it with family and friends who you think may find it helpful - but we also hope that all of you might enjoy listening to it as a different way to find out more about our current season.

Audio Brochure for 'Fantastic Symphonies' 2025/26 Southbank Centre Season

We are a ‘period instrument’ orchestra formed in 1986 specialising in music composed between the 17th and 19th Centuries (and occasionally beyond) – by composers such as Bach, Handel, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven and many, many others. We play on instruments – or replicas of instruments – from the time the music we play was written. Our sound is rooted in research and experiments to discover how these instruments were played. The result is a vivid contrast with the sounds of a ‘modern’ symphony orchestra that highlights the ongoing developments of musical language.
