This is a demo for one of the songs from my musical 'Kevin! [The Musical]'. The plot for this show follows an exchange student from England, named Kevin, who arrives in a nondescript American suburb intending to find out what America is really like in 2019. Kevin, however, finds himself immersed in the world of a cheesy high school musical, which only becomes more absurd and nightmarish during his time in the USA. Kevin is unsure who to trust as everyone seems insane, though it might be Kevin himself, or something else, that is actually crazy.

This is by far the cheesiest and most over the top song I have ever written, it is also possibly the most catchy one as well. Within the plot of the musical, this is the first time Kevin sees the characters singing so whilst you listen to it, imagine an English boy having a panic attack and looking extremely confused on stage whilst all of the other characters are singing and dancing in an extremely corny way.

Northern soul has always thrived on the rare, the obscure and the undiscovered. We visited Stockport’s Masonic Guildhall to hear from those who have dedicated their lives to the movement, which emerged in dancehalls of northern England back in the 60s. 

We discover what it means to be part of “the scene” and discuss the history of iconic 70s and 80s venues such as Manchester’s Twisted Wheel and Wigan Casino - where the original all-nighter was born.
