*A note from eks:
Growing up it seemed like all of my favorite mix tapes had Mazi tracks, so making an entire mixtape of them made perfect sense.
 
I've always loved how versatile Mazi is as a producer, so my main goal for this mix was to showcase the breadth of his work under various pseudonyms. Indeed, Mazi has a track for any mood.  If you want something low and slow with amazing vocals "Do You Want Me" is one of the best. Need  a 134 bpm all-major-chord banger happier than bunnies cumming sunshine? Check out "Refill?".   How about a minimal tech track that is psychedelic and groove-heavy? Easy!  Mazi is producing loads of them under the name Audio Soul Project.  
 
Not to mention that under the pseudonym Studio Nova, he was a pioneer of the filtered sound that defined Disco House in the late 90s. "The Reason We Took It Underground" is still one of the best records I've ever heard to this day.  After 25 years not only does it still sound fresh, even the social messaging is still relevant. It's confirmation that we were absolutely on the right track back then.  Something still worthy of our time now.  And that makes it all the more special.

DayFunk Presents : The Sounds of Stacy Kidd - Mixed by Pet Sounds

Ben Annand set off Camp DayFunk 2025 with a heady, deep, and impeccably crafted dance floor-first set that captured the tone for the entire weekend. From the first beat, he pulled the crowd into a sound that felt both grounded and expansive, layering warm, textured elements with basslines that built steadily without ever rushing the moment. There was a patience to his flow, a quiet confidence that allowed dancers to lose themselves in the space between the kick and the melody. Equal parts meditative and body-moving, Ben’s set honored the spirit of the forest and the promise of the dance floor, weaving a sonic tapestry that felt ancient and new at once. It was the perfect invocation, a chapter that reminded everyone why we gather together in the first place.


Ben Annand : Camp DayFunk 2025 - Friday Night

For the second year in a row, Dory Kahalé closed out Saturday night at Camp DayFunk with a set that felt less like a performance and more like a ritual. Seamlessly weaving house, ghetto, classic techno, and everything in between, Dory commanded the dancefloor with a sound that was raw, driving, and undeniably joyful. As the sun dipped low and the night came alive, his set built momentum in waves, each one pulling dancers deeper into the reminder why we gather. It was sweaty, communal, and cathartic. If this becomes the DayFunk tradition it’s starting to feel like, we’re all the better for it.


Dory Kahalé : Camp DayFunk 2025

In 2000, Nick Gunz (then going by Nik E. Gunz) walked into Vital Vinyl in Minneapolis with a bag of records, and a mini disc recorder. Nothing planned, just hoping to record something decent. The result - The Red Tape. It became the first in a planned series of The United Colors of House. Two other mixes were recorded in this series: The Blue Tape & The Green Tape. Somehow this recording survived the last 25+ years in the bottom of a box in storage. All vinyl, unplanned. Enjoy the flashback.

It's All Happening Right Now is an ode to the classic DJ mix tapes of the 1990's. 30 minutes each side, rather than the now standard hour or more mix session. The DJ needed to communicate a cohesive, yet short set that was designed to grab the listeners attention. A mix of house music classics, burners and bootlegs.

Nick's unique style of house music was instrumental in defining the sound of the Minneapolis club and underground house scene for over two decades. Nick started his career as a DJ in the late 90s, influenced by the Chicago hot mix style of dj'ing on B96 FM. In the early 2000s he spearheaded the Black club series at the First Avenue VIP Room, hosting exclusive events that brought world class house music to the Twin Cities.

Nick's signature sound draws from a wide range of influences, including French house, Chicago house, New York vocal house anthems and bootlegs. He has often been praised for his ability to blend nostalgic classics with contemporary bangers.
