“Take a leaf”, the latest offering from Gong boys Gosh, sees the band back to their hooky and well crafted ways. A swift 3 minute onslaught of effective pummeling guitars, and a grittier lead vocal than Gosh fans are used to brings about a different energy to that heard on singles prior. The raw and more charged vocal tone accentuates the message of the lyric, as an internal struggle unfolds between the desire to reach one’s full potential, and the hardwearing habit of wasting time on things inconsequential and ultimately unsatisfying.

Still clearly Gosh at its core, the piece is upbeat, rocky, and catchier than ever underneath all the unfiltered frustration. Backed by a grand wall of guitar layers in the chorus, the instrumentation only emphasises the release of bottled up emotion which leaves the track dripping.
