I started collecting records in my hometown of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, in 1972.  I was introduced to the world of DJs and club music when I came out in 1975, and was priviledged to dance to some of the best "1st Generation" DJs in the nation!  I began my professional DJ career on January 1, 1980, at Dirty Sally's in Houston, Texas, and in 1984 moved to the 611 Club in Houston, and began playing guest spots at several other Houston clubs.  During those years I worked with several DJ who later became legend, including JD Arnold, Jon Mott, Jimmy Spaulding, Doug Barnes, Brian Broussard, John Sims, Karl Fought, Mark Hebert, and many more talented Houston jocks!

In 1988 I moved to Dallas to open the Ripcord Dallas and was the resident DJ for the entire 4 years of it's existence.  Sadly, the club closed in 1992 (due to a botched change of management, not lack of Customers or excitment). 
 
In 1989 I began collaboration with the Good Vibe Tribe (with Robert Taylor, Hipp-E, Scottie "Red Eye" Canfield) and the Hazy Daze Collectif (Ian Collingwood, Sean Holland, Cle Aklin, and a host of others!) producing and promoting the undergrounds "warehouse" parties that subsequently became the Dallas Rave scene.  Wow! What a ride that was!  I'm honored to be one of the few "gay bar" DJs that successfully crossed over into the true underground scene.  I participated in the parties until 1994, often providing sound systems with my dear friend Stephen Hebert, and Jim Jenkins usually doing lights, special effects, and providing fabulousness to otherwise drab warehouses.  I also had the distinct honor of playing the KDGE 94.5 Midnight Mix twice.  Thanks, Jeff K. for the opportunity!!

After the Ripcord Dallas closed (1992) I began a 5 year residency at The Brick, Dallas, in its original location on Maple Ave, under the leadership of Howard Okon.  I had the privedge of DJing with Dallas "Greats" including Troy Sands, Ric Harrington, Jimmy Bartlett, and dear DJ sista from waaay back, Doug Summers.  I left The Brick and "retired" from spinning professionally in 1997, two years after being hired by Southwest Airlines, mostly due to conflicting job hours and needing to sleep at some point each day.

From 1990 thru 1993, Steven, Jim and I produced several well received parties at Club One and partied to the unbelieveable sounds of DJs Rob Vaughan, Mikey B., JT Donaldson, Ronnie Bruno, Arnold Velasco DJ-A1, Kelly Reverb, Greg Watton, Mike Constantino, RichieBoom Stanley.  We had a wonderful family of DJs and enthusiasts in the early 90's.  It was a very special time and I'm sooo glad to have been part of it.

But throughout the years I never stopped missing the music and emotional rush of connecting with a receptive dancefloor.  It's a feeling like no other.  And to reconnect with my true passion and my dearly missed friends, I made the digital transition and began recording these podcasts!  I make each one with the love I always tried to share with my friends, and usually with a cocktail or several which explains the ocasional error.  For example, I know the first mix on "2wo to 3hree AM" sucks but the rest I think is pretty good.  I sure hope you like it!


Barry Harris was the first club DJ in the world to write, produce and perform a Top 40 hit he titled “I Beg Your Pardon” by a studio act he named Kon Kan.

“I Beg Your Pardon”, became an international Top 5 hit around the world, garnering a Juno Award (Canadian Grammy) for Best Dance Recording in 1990.

In 1998 Barry relocated to Los Angeles to  coproduce in the remix duo Thunderpuss producing more than 40 #1 Billboard Dance remixes including hits for major label recording artists Madonna, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Cher, Mary J. Blige, Celine Dion & Donna Summer to name a few.

Barry & Thunderpuss is best known for Whitney Houston’s Top 5 global hit, “It’s Not Right But It’s Okay” which remains in steady rotation today as well as Barry's  "Dive In The Pool (Let's Get Soakin' Wet). 
Also winner of 2 IDMA Awards best remixer of the year at WMC and another IDMA Award for Best Underground Dance Record of the Year.
