Bio - Born in Suburban Chicagoland and raised in Northwest Wisconsin, Steve Seuling (a.k.a. Centrific) anchored himself in Minneapolis since 1993. In a mostly-hidden, yet vibrantly evolving underground scene, Seuling started attending, curating, and DJing events in the mid-1990s. Underscoring his commitment for the Twin Cities’ massive bass bins, Seuling then in March of 1998 founded “Intellephunk”, his brand of parties that began at the now-shuttered Rockler Fur Building, drawing inspiration from those of his contemporaries (Woody McBride’s “Electric Disko”, Drop Bass Network’s Even Furthur). Centrific throws a weekly summer party called “Communion”, founded in 2007 alongside fellow Midwest native Dustin Zahn. Communion is an inclusive open-air day party, focusing on the psychedelic side of house and techno. Most recently, Centrific created an online Twitch stream entitled “Distant Future”, a platform where he invites local and international DJs to showcase their music and chat about their ideas for the future of the rave scene.  His dedication to preserving and protecting the local roots of the dance music community shows that, in many ways, he’s the lifeblood of Midwest techno.

Steve’s contributions and continued loyalty to Minneapolis is immense and self-evident. He embodies a fatherly role in both his day-to-day life and artistic practice. Seuling is grounded and approachable; a speaker-freaker with a wry sense of humor and an openness to connect with new and old friends. His DJ style explores a direct lineage to pummeling, aggressive Midwest techno and house, mixing with pointillist sonic precision that permeates his approach to his musical eclecticism. Centrific veers away from musical boundaries and expectations, while pushing further and further into that psychedelic headspace one can only call “the groove”.

Gothenburg-born DJ and producer Mohajer brings her galvanizing spirit and sophisticated cuts to the series with a 73-minute release. The Swedish veteran and key member of Fast Forward Productions has cultivated over a decade’s worth of sounds from her Berlin base and provided the soundtrack for her mp3 parties as co-founder and long-running resident, as well as for gatherings across a spate of clubs like RSO, Tresor, Berghain, Fold and Basement. Her productions play with her Persian heritage and a blend of electronic music genres to bring a fresh and uplifting take to market: a sensual and bustling mix of driving techno with a heavy focus on community building and human connection. Her dynamo beats emerge from her deep understanding of a dancefloor’s energy, and render obvious her quick-witted feel for music and people. Her forthcoming EP on Spray’s Punctuality Records twists that palette into something bold and elastic: a confident cascade of mystique, mayhem and sensuality. Bassiani Podcast 272 brings together two techno heavy-hitters for a three-hour bout of heady, rolling grooves. In one corner comes Georgian mainstay and grassroots agitator NDRX, a formative member of Tbilisi's techno contingent. His early efforts in expanding the city's nightlife offerings helped drive radical change, and shaped the decades since. His mission further translated into the founding of Stare at DJ (2012), and 11th Floor (2015). Both are vehicles for the gathering and promotion of local talent without which, Georgia today would look much different. In the other corner comes Dustin Zahn, a midwestern champion for tribal rhythms and pulsating hypnotism. Heavily armed with a flurry of references including the brain-melting IDM of the late 90s and iconoclastic beats, Dustin founded Enemy Records in 2004. In recent years, he has made appearances on labels like Blueprint, Token, and Rekids. He also hosts the Trainwrecks Podcast, an outlet for intimate face-to-face chats with industry peers. This storied duo are a menacing match, a b2b pairing that manifests the adrenaline-fueled techno native to both their sounds and whips up a sum greater than both its parts. This latest number is a bout of fevered techno havoc devised by two sonic confrères, an auditory onslaught of hammering loops recorded live at Bassiani's season closing night.

Acronym first surfaced in late 2012 on his own imprint, Dimensional Exploration, putting out mind-bending EP DE 001. Since that time, ჰis music has been released on Abdulla Rashim’s label Northern Electronics as well as setting a regular cooperation with Semantica Records where he found a platform for his latest LP, Entagled In Vines, in 2016. 

With his contribution to Bassiani Podcast series that was recorded live at BASSIANI while RA in Residence’s opening night Acronym serves up one hour of deep, percussive techno loaded with the most energetic, fresh and mind-bending tunes of himself. Moving from a cinematic, shadowy introduction the live-set turns into diverse rhythmic section where Swedish talent shows us the virtue of his thrilling and trippy techno sound.

Acronym (@4cr0nym) has been releasing some of the best techno, dub and ambient music in recent memory, with three albums, over a dozen EPs, and a handful of collaborations out since 2012. A Swedish artist closely affiliated with Abdullah Rashim, most of his early work came out on the Northern Electronics label, but he’s now releasing via his own imprint, Stilla Ton.
