Excited to go see Dead and Co. play this weekend. This song has some of the most beautiful lyrics. It's about the American Beatnik (Merry Prankster) Neil Cassidy. He served as the model for the character Dean Moriarty in Jack Kerouac's  1957 version of "On the Road"

This song is the opening track from my new album with the Littoral Drift.  Josh Peters https://soundcloud.com/jdylanp was gracious enough to sit in and play on these tracks. His drumming is unique, stylish, and passionate. He brings a lot of flavor to every song on this new album. During recording, I gave him little direction and told him I wanted him to feel total freedom to explore the tune and the vibe. It inspires his playing. We mixed the album together and decided to call the new band The Littoral Drift. The Littoral drift, or longshore sediment transport, is the term used for the longshore transport of sediments (mainly sand), along the upper shoreface due to the action of breaking and longshore currents.

I wrote this song during the pandemic during lock down. I'm glad I do not feel this way anymore; however, you'll never know the good times if you don't have some bad. This song is about my grandfather's recitation of a traditional joke when he would pass a cemetery, he would say, "People are dying to get in there," and how this joke has transcended three generations of my family, with my own kids now reciting the joke. They have added, "....and the wait is killing them." Either way, the song is about how we live on after we die through the loved ones we leave behind. 
The lyrics on the recording are different than these lyrics posted. After I recorded this song, I returned to these lyrics and made changes so I could recite it as poetry. I added more imagery. I so appreciate the musicians and artists who support my work and only hope we can all continue to stay inspired and grow through our art.
