Sofie Alise writes songs the way a coroner conducts autopsies—gloves off, lights blinding. At just 20, the Los Angeles native has crafted a musical language that exists in the space between jazz’s intellectual detachment and pop’s visceral immediacy. Her upcoming debut EP isn’t merely a collection of songs; it’s a psychological case study set to minor-seventh chords, documenting what happens when a conservatory-trained vocalist decides to weaponize her diary. Her voice—a rich contralto that suggests Amy Winehouse’s bruised romanticism —serves as the perfect vehicle for lyrics that dissect modern love with surgical precision. 

Six years as lead vocalist for her school’s jazz band instilled in Sofie a respect for technical mastery, while her LA upbringing—equal parts her father’s Yacht Rock indoctrination and the city’s relentless pop machinery—gave her an instinct for hooks. The result is music that’s both intellectually rigorous and emotionally immediate; songs that reward close listening while still working as a soundtrack for late-night drives.
