I had the opportunity to sing this song with new folks late at night after a long week of singing. Singing this song as a parting from a new group of people I had never met before and then spent an intensive week with was special.

I had no recorded version of this song with guitar and my new friends willingly jumped in to sing with me on it. We recorded it on my voice notes app with no rehearsal. Enjoy and please sing along with us!!!

Traditionally chanted during the Neilah service—the dramatic and climactic service of Yom Kippur—this piyyut expresses the urgency of the moment, as worshippers utter their final prayers. The piyyut is particularly powerful for our band because it comes from Galeet’s own family’s Persian tradition. Galeet grew up hearing her father, Hazzan Farid Dardashti, chanting it.
