This was my second song, written around the end of 2013. 

This song is set on a December day, hence the title and the references to the landscape of the Lagan Valley as it runs through Belfast. It is set on one of those crisp, cold, but sunny, blue-skied days...but that is just the backdrop for a song, which is essentially about my own struggle to accept myself, especially in intimate relationships. However, it is easy to project our own lack of acceptance onto our closest others. So this songs resonates with the residual and haunting questions, of "is this good enough for you?", "am I good enough for you?". 

This song is also for me, partly, about making my peace with the ordinary things, after 'losing' a belief that offered me a lot more significance. The question asked, is, "is this life without that significance, good enough for me?"

But, hopefully you will find your own meaning in it, and maybe even enjoy it too.

Philip Watts d'Alton is a musician, producer and songwriter originally from Dublin. Philip moved to Belfast in 2006 and was a founding member of John Shelly & The Creatures who later became known as Master & Dog. Master & Dog gained notoriety with their song "Long May You Reign" being chosen as the soundtrack to the Northern Ireland Tourist Board television and radio adverts from 2008 to 2010. The band released two critically acclaimed albums and played their last show in 2015. Since then Philip has been recording, producing, and performing on music for various artists including Alana Henderson, Ryan McMullan, Rory Nellis and Simon Herron. Philip released his first solo song "Reflections"  in March 2017. His latest release "Affable" is the second song from his forthcoming album due to be completed in September 2017.
