After several years of lurking, Ultrasyd (FR) has been active in Chiptune scene and Demoscene (as a member of Brainstorm) since 2009. He produces music in various styles, ranging from classic demoscene Chiptunes to Electro and Metal. For 8bit music, he uses Amstrad CPC, Amiga, Game Boy, Master System, MT32, Commodore 64 ... with a slight preference for the sweet sound of the Atari ST. He made his first steps on stage at Blip Festival New York in 2011. Ever since he has not stopped to surprise us with the music he comes up relaing on old school game devices.

I've finally managed to read and decode the information that is inside the crystal, you won't believe this, it's music. Apparently it is actually the binnacle of the Thunder Launcher, it tells the travels of that flying ship, unfortunately there's no record of why the ship ended torn apart in the Atlantic ocean. Also, I have found that the records were made by a sort of computer, an AI named Thiele.


This is an album I'm really happy to release, I've invited a few friends to add his magic and I really loved working with them, you're awesome guys.

Sorry it's been a while! I hit a major dry spot and haven't been able to produce anything that has really met my standards.

I started listening to Tim Follin's Time Trax stuff as well as things like the Valis III soundtrack; I then got inspired to play around with FM8 and try and get some Megadrive sounds.

I didn't intend to make a full track but here it is!

This isn't really a chiptune per se, I've probably gone beyond the Megadrive's capabilities but I reckon with a bit of tweaking you could definitely get this sounding very similar on an actual Megadrive.

The White Room

This is the song I wrote for the Chiptunes = WIN "Bundle of WIN " compilation, that was featured on Groupees in December 2015. You can get the album for any price you want here : http://chiptuneswin.bandcamp.com/album/bundle-of-win

This track is one of those that I could compose in a very short time. I just wanted to write something happy and upbeat, and inspiration struck at the right time. All along I was mostly imagining people aboard a fast train, gazing at beautiful landscapes passing by. 

As far as the style goes, I used my typical Prime Legacy chiprock recipe : fusion of 2 pulses, 1 triangle from the 2A03 NES chip, a VRC6 saw signal and my good old soft distortion rhythm guitars. I just can't get sick of that blend !

I always wanted to remix @bloodcodemusic's tune "Phazon" and by hearing the vocals for it, I envisioned it in Synthwave style :P therefore, I decided to re-arrange it using a lot of synths and sounds from the 80s... and also some guitars because why not :P
