Sunday Daydream

This is the first of two tracks we recorded recently in Sydney with Jack Nigro, who has just come off recording and producing The Terry's 'True Colour' LP.

'Letter to Myself' is a drivey, energetic track that gets people moving out of their seats and onto that d-floor, and for us is a huge step forwards in terms of production quality. The punchy guitars and classic organ are very much in the vain of classic The Strokes, who were the main inspiration for the sound of the song.

This hard-hitting, feedback-ridden track reveals a grittier side to the band's songwriting. 'Asterisk' introduces a new sound while maintaining the distinctive core of the band, featuring massive driving guitars, a highline melody and a blistering guitar solo that demands attention. It was recorded at Frying Pan Studios in Tasmania, MONA’s state-of-the-art facility designed around the original mixing desk from Abbey Road Studios & mixed by Jack Nigro - producer of The Terrys & Pacific Avenue.

How’s Your Mother? is a bittersweet, nostalgic track that unfolds before crashing into an expansive, anthemic final chorus. Rooted in emotion and driven by a vulnerable vocal and jangly, reverby guitars, the track blends pop rock energy with introspective lyricism, capturing the push and pull of unresolved connections.

Centered around those strange feelings of unresolved emotion, mixed with nostalgia, regret, and longing, the track explores the complexities of past relationships and the fondness that comes with those memories that evidently fade with time.

"This one really came together in the final hour," says Liam, the lead singer of BOCCE. "We only really had a rough demo walking into the final day at the studio - the melody was there, but we didn’t have much more than the bare bones”. 
“We don’t typically write in the studio but we had some time, went back through some of the voice memos and a few notes and everything fell into place really quickly.”
“When it feels natural and everything flows, you realise that it wasn’t deliberate, but it was something that you were meant to share”.

The track is a reflection on a connection that never quite settled the way it should have. The song itself conveys that emotional build-up of overthinking an unresolved feeling - the melody and vocal carrying the bulk of it before everything crashes in the final chorus.


How's Your Mother?

Based out of nipaluna / Hobart, Australia, BOCCE is a five-piece alt-rock outfit that melds the sun-drenched tonality of surf-rock with the anthemic nostalgia of ’90s indie.

Consisting of Liam Meagher (vocals and rhythm guitar), Zac Flanagan (lead guitar), Will Barwick (drums), Campbell Jepson (bass), and Nick McCarthy (keys and guitar), the band established themselves over late-night jam sessions in a coastal shed. 

Having supported bands such as The Terrys, Teenage Dads, and Old Mervs on tours across Tasmania — along with appearances at major festivals such as Great Escape and Party in the Paddock — BOCCE is carving out their own path with a distinct sound and a relentless passion. Their captivating live shows and relatable lyricism explore themes of love, loss, and life’s repetitive cycles, delivered with raw, heartfelt honesty.

In 2022, BOCCE released their debut EP While We Wait, recorded in a newly repurposed sheep-shearing shed, and later that year, went on to release their most loved song to date Letter to Myself. This track saw the band really push their boundaries and significantly bolster the quality of their sound, working with acclaimed producer Jack Nigro (The Amity Affliction, Pacific Avenue, Rum Jungle). The second single recorded with Jack, Fortune, released early in 2023 and also received high praise, being chosen to feature on Vinyl Moon Co. 's (USA) Vol. 97 The Pond Beyond. 

After coming out of a temporary hibernation and into a huge summer of live shows; supporting the likes of Dear Seattle, and playing both major festivals in Tasmania of Great Escape and Party in the Paddock, BOCCE have released their latest single, How’s Your Mother? (2025). The track is the second of two singles that offers a glimpse into the band’s evolving sound with confidence and a newfound maturity.
