Deflecting Ghosts is a rock and alternative metal band based in Hutchinson, Kansas. What began as Luke Fitzgerald’s personal creative refuge during the final chapter of his previous band has since grown into a powerful trio. In early 2025, longtime collaborator Rhema and drummer Austin joined the project, deepening its emotional core and expanding its sonic reach. Their music channels the spirit of a time when rock was raw, honest, and unafraid to feel, fusing grit with melody in a way that hits hard and lingers.

With decades of musical experience, from classical guitar roots to self-taught piano, bass, drums, and vocals, Luke draws from a lifetime of personal battles and triumphs. Rhema brings her own voice to the band’s rhythm section, crafting bass lines that reflect a shared history of resilience and redemption. Austin, a precise and intuitive drummer, provides the dynamic backbone of their evolving sound.

Deflecting Ghosts’ latest single, « Broken », marks their first full-band release. A deeply personal track years in the making. It stands alongside earlier works like « Lost My Mind » and « Passion of the Scorned », which laid the foundation for the band’s emotionally charged, authentic style.


Set to make their live debut at the Sunflower Festival, Deflecting Ghosts carries a message for anyone who has ever struggled: it's okay to feel pain, and it's even more important to find a way to express it. For them, music isn't about chasing fame. It’s about survival, truth, and connection. In a world that often feels hollow, Deflecting Ghosts remains fiercely committed to making music that means something.





Biography:From the beginning 

Hello, my name is Luke Fitzgerald and I have had my fair share of challenges throughout my life. Born in Texas and later moving to Kansas, my journey has been marked by tragedy and triumph.

At just 15 years old, I experienced a devastating loss when my brother and three friends passed away in a tragic car crash. This event led me down a dark path of addiction for almost a decade, with multiple near-death experiences serving as wake-up calls. In 2008, I made the decision to seek help and entered rehab, starting a new chapter in my life.

Despite the hardships, music has always been my solace and passion. I found comfort in writing, recording, and performing, immersing myself in the art form. With a versatile range of musical styles, I embarked on a solo project, showcasing my skills on the piano. Through self-teaching, I mastered the instrument and created mesmerizing instrumental compositions that connect with listeners.

In addition to my solo work, I formed the band EveriKnee, which became my main focus. Known for our dynamic sound and captivating performances, we released a music video that showcased our unique blend of acoustic melodies and powerful vocals. Although I felt the need to remove the song due to personal reasons, the video remains available for fans to enjoy.

With a deep commitment to my craft, I am gearing up to release my highly anticipated upcoming project, "Kicking." This release promises to be a powerful showcase of my growth as an artist and my ability to create impactful and memorable music.

In addition to my solo endeavors and involvement in EveriKnee, I recently released my solo project, "Deflecting Ghosts." This collection of captivating and introspective songs demonstrates my multi-instrumental talent, as I played and recorded every instrument.

Throughout the highs and lows of life, music has remained my constant source of inspiration and strength. It is a tool that drives me forward, providing solace and purpose. With unwavering dedication and remarkable talent, I strive to leave a profound impact on listeners, connecting through the universal language of music and sharing my incredible journey of resilience and triumph.
