First up is Sekko Mekko an early evening shuffler full of all max’s trademark sounds subtly charming the most horizontal listener onto the dancefloor. Top post sunset shuffler. Craig Bratley pumps up the bass sounds and drops an lovely vocal accent. We love this remix at IIB a real fav. Reminiscent of an early doors Flying track
The B-side is the stand alone track Aestival a beautifully evocative journey from chilled out bliss do chuggy dancefloor grooving done as only Max can do.

Sun Scope, wow what a beautiful piece of music, I'm getting goose bumps listening right now. Deep Melodica man, it flows and grows without getting all complex. This being released right at the tail of 2017 is a game changer in my favorite track of the year. What comes out of Timm Sures and Richard Hampson Camp only can only be described as remarkable. These guys completely work for the love of music. "And to possibly pay for a trip to the White Isle once a year". as Timm put it to me once. Is It Balearic....? ain't just Balearic they're almost punk in their attitude, in the sense there's no big promotional campaign beforehand. The records they put out sell themselves.  Well now here is the link to have a listen to the 5th track on the A side of Sun Scope the ep, Sun Scope.

Sun Scope is a soundtrack to a dreamlike journey through nature. The A side represents morning until dusk. The B side, midnight until dawn. Maricopa drops a beautifully evocative album of mellow electronica on IIB.

As the nights draw in and the temperature drops, eclectics return with a brace of winter warmers, courtesy of James Rod, both of which are packing enough heat to keep us cosy until the clocks go forward. 

Boarder Pass is cosmic disco with a casual nod to Norway in the loose-limbed stomp as the bass and drums rise and fall into place with calm confidence. 

The synth sound is so warm it's like they've been rendered in pastels by a man in a sweater by an open fire. There's no soporific after effect though, the high arpeggios and throbbing bass see to that. This tune is headed for the dance floor, it's just sorting out the underfloor heating first. 

"Back to Casiopea" shares similar feel, but with the urgency turned up. Shards of guitar ricochet off the glacier walls provided by the synths, which give us a structure that's familiar yet unknown - like finding an outtake of Patrick Cowley producing Tangerine Dream or digging out an hitherto unseen John Carpenter project and realising that it has a previously unheard soundtrack to kill for. 

In fact, Cowley and Carpenter are key touchstones. There's a live feel to these tracks that accentuates the human element. This may be machine music on first reading, but it oozes soul, bleeds spirit, and that comes from a composer who understands perfectly how to place himself at the centre of it all. -Jah Shabby

'Skies Reprise' closes off the EP with a beat less take on the original. The melodies given more space for a sonic equivalent of open air swaying under hazy pink skies.

Bosq’s aptly titled third full-length effort “Love & Resistance” is a collection of songs that reflect a producer’s continuing emergence by diving deeper into his influences. The strains of Afro and Latin flavours are interwoven and still heavily permeate but the underlying groove and rhythms have taken on a more modern, jazz-funk and disco-soul vibe with nods to Bobby Caldwell, Roy Ayers, the Mizell brothers and Nile Rodgers’Chic.
Already featuring “Can’t Seem To Hide” with Megan Doherty that made a splash as the first single from the album garnering a 10/10 rating from Mixmag, the whole album is soldered together with each track being a single-worthy release in it’s own right. Featuring guest vocalists on all but one of the tunes including frequent collaborators Kaleta, and Nicole Willis, along with Ray Lugo who’s known for his work in Kokolo and Boogaloo Destroyers. LA based singer Induce and new duo Lucid Paradise with E da Boss & Ishtar round out the cast of Bosq’s most vocally varied album work to date, reflecting both his growth as an artist and his willingness to push his own sonic boundaries.
A relentless work ethic fused with a broad and varied music palette all attuned to the groove and a focus on making folks move has led to numerous remix projects, most recently with legendary Benin-based Orchestre Poly-Rythmo De Cotonou. With a steadily growing fan base and reputation amongst fellow artists and musicians, Bosq’s immediate future is already laden with releases lined up for Fania and his collaborative effort Body Music alongside The Rapture’s Vito Roccoforte.

Number 9 from Eclectics might not be a revolution as such, but it’s certainly a revelation. The label continues its pioneering, worldwide search for the finest tunes they can find, and their wide-cast net has, once again, caught something very special indeed. Enigmatic Turkish producer KaaN offers up original track Adab i Raki while Project Spectre (Clandestino’s Iain Mcbeath), Ed Mahon and Field of Dreams vie to make the track their own.

One listen to the original is enough to understand while they’re all so keen to do so. It snaps along with real purpose while echoed steel drums provide the tonal signature against on top of which Makam melodies flow courtesy of beautifully bowed strings. File next to Malka Tuti or Disco Halal for likely bedfellows.

Project Spectre introduces a slight canter to the piece and slices things up to increase the pace. Introducing the feel of heritage house to a track already steeped in history and tradition is a clever call and one that will work on dancefloors and headphones alike.

Field of Dreams, meanwhile, pays full respect to the original, while adding in some deft touches of his own. These include spacebound synth stabs and some fantastically insistent 808 sounding snare patterns, which all adds up to a sound that’s geared as much to the head as the feet – music to make your mind bogle, if you will.

Lastly it’s the turn of Alfresco Festival’s Ed Mahon, who takes a different approach altogether and rips the thing apart before reconstructing it with a neck-snapping urgency and a bass that will be troubling chest cavities long after the party has finished. It is, not to put too finer point on it, an absolute monster of a remix.

From laid back grooves to sun-dappled synths, this collection approaches the dance floor with a slow, unhurried determination that takes in Balearic, disco, house and exotic rhythms from label favourites Dany Dorado, Faint Waves and James Bright, alongside debuts from Ondata (Stash Magnectic's Szymek Lawik and Martin Lefteri), Andres y Xaxi, Rollmottle and Tel Aviv's Guy Maayan. 

Love Vol. 1 is no retrospective - there's no need to look back when the future sounds this good. This is a manifesto from a label hitting its stride and let's face it, the world could do with a bit more Love right now.
