Good morning Denver Public Schools. This is T.J. Layne, principal of Fairview elementary school in northwest Denver. I hope everyone’s day is starting off well, and if it isn’t, don’t worry, it will still be a great day! The Fairview falcons come to school every day ready to SOAR by Showing respect, being an Outstanding citizen, Accepting responsibility and Rising to the occasion. I challenge all of you to pick one of these to try to do really well today. I have been doing a lot of reading since I’ve been spending extra time at home and came across a poem called Life Doesn’t Frighten Me by the great Dr. Maya Angelou. It has helped me stay resilient during this time and I hope you find some comfort in it as well.
 
Shadows on the wall
Noises down the hall
Life doesn't frighten me at all
 
Bad dogs barking loud
Big ghosts in a cloud

Mean old Mother Goose
Lions on the loose
They don't frighten me at all
 
Dragons breathing flame
On my counterpane

Buenos días, Escuelas Públicas de Denver.  Soy TJ Layne, director de la Escuela Primaria Fairview en el noroeste de Denver. Espero que hayan comenzado el día bien y, si no, no se preocupen, aún puede ser un gran día. Los halcones de Fairview vienen a la escuela a diario listos para alzar el vuelo al mostrar respeto, ser ciudadanos excelentes, asumir sus responsabilidades y estar a la altura de las circunstancias. He estado leyendo mucho porque he estado pasando mucho tiempo en casa y he encontrado un poema titulado La vida no me asusta de la maravillosa Dra. Maya Angelou.
