We welcome back one of our own hometown heroes, Jonathan Kaspar. Through holding down a residency at the fabled Gewölbe club, to releases on Pets Recordings, Objektivity, Ouïe and our own KX imprint, Jonathan Kaspar has proved to be one of the most exceptionally gifted producers and DJ’s to emerge from Cologne in recent time.

Though the clubs have remained closed since he came to us with his Kompakt debut “Kante”, his inspiration clearly remains unwavered with “Muster EP”. An acid tinged groove throbs to incredible momentum on the title track “Muster”. Follow the heartbeat with “Alle” as Jonathan brings the electro funk forward with his first foray into using his own vocals. A French touched rumble bass gives “Beton” all the flow and more for those early hour moments we all are craving again. The closer “Heber” is a classic opener – a subtle percussion rhythm gets built around sky high synths and a sweet house high hat to warm up any night.

The digital version comes with a stripped down version of Beton!

"Back in 2012 “Missing Love” by The Mekanism was one of the records I played out the most. When I got an email from Needwant asking me to remix it I was thrilled! It was clear in my mind that I couldn’t create anything deeper than the original and that turning the song into something new, to accord it to my personal vision wouldn’t have been an easy job. However the vocals itself directed me first into building those basic pad chords. The bassline, the synth hook and the rhythmic elements are musically consequential of the mood created by the vocals, that’s why I also choose to include an instrumental version.” - Musumeci

'Belgian disco savants Rheinzand return with the second in a triptych of remix EPs. This one follows Obey Remixes, which came out Nov 6. 

Kills & Kisses, the original track, comes off Rheinzand’s 2019 self-titled album and has been out as a single as well. The track was one of the more propulsive on the album with an almost micro-house sounding groove, driving down low, blossoming up top. 

This bundle of remixes flow from that vein, expanding on the house angle of Rheinzand’s sound through the work of three fantastic artists.'
