The Pool River is a small river, which rises in South-East London and eventually flows into the Thames as the Deptford Creek. Much of the Pool River is underground, but several sections are in the open air and are delightful to walk along. My son Joe (then aged 10) and I used to love exploring them, and this short piece for piano, 4 hands, written in 1995, commemorates our riverside rambles. It was first performed on February 9th 2019 by Christopher Adler and Andrea Violet Lodge at Greene Music, San Diego CA. This performance, by the same artists, was recorded by Michael Oyster and David Abel at Creative Performing Arts Studios on February 10th 2019.
