KALUCA Vi was the name of a little aluminum boat my parents owned at our lake house and the source of many happy childhood memories of fishing trips and afternoon outings on the gentle waves of the imposing Cocibolca Lake, Nicaragua. The name of this vessel derived from the first letters from my siblings names: KA(Karen)LU(Lourdes)Ca(Carlos - me)Vi(Violeta).
A sad epilogue, the boat was stolen by the Sandinistas after the 1979 Revolution from our property, never to be seen again.

I was born in Managua, Nicaragua.
I am an independent filmmaker, cinematographer, scriptwriter, photographer, film scoring and sound re-recording artist. For many years held an apprenticeship under my friend and mentor Academy Award recipient, the late Richard Portman.

I participated on projects by conceptual artist Jochen Gerz and Native American performance artist James Luna. 

Recent projects include independent films: El Rio, Lewis & Klarq (soundtrack mix and master), Stiffs, Page Jumper, Overlapping Scenarios, Lucky Break, Chapter Zero, Pure Evil, Daniel, Continuum, and Because of Emily.
