A traditional chant and children's rhyme it has never been recorded or put to music. The story comes from the times when the island was under the rule of the Knights of St. John. The knights had to take chastity vows and were not allowed to marry, yet they would have mistresses which they would barter for with the parents by loading them with lavish presents and trinkets.
