Jean “Mr. Hours” Cherubin is an American poet, musician, YouTuber and author. He is often referred to as the spoken word innovator due to his influential spoken word performances and positive charged lyrics. Mr. Hours’  work combines elements of hip hop, emceeing, jazz, soul, spoken word poetry, and social media commentary, and mixed with a little philosophy for modern times. He addresses mental health, financial literacy, identity and of course racism, inequality, and social justice.

Born on October 26, 1970’s, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He came to the USA as a child in 1980 and after college held several jobs and opened several entrepreneurial endeavors. Social media, particularly YouTube, helped him gain prominence in 2023 with his spoken word pieces titled “Blessed, Inner Enemy, Haters Point of View and My Two Suns." Similar to hip hop’s mixtape scene, in 2024 he released a ‘baker's dozen strategy.’ Releasing 13 projects in one year, each with 13 tracks. These numerous projects created anticipation for his official debut album 'Spoken Hop 1 and 2, and ‘Wise Words.’ A collection of digital audiobooks full of spoken word and hip hop infused art. Throughout his career, which started by managing music groups in 2005, he never gave up on his own art. He perfected his sound over the years to create some of the most significant changes to how people consume music in the digital age. He used AI to automate music generation and used YouTube to display music videos. He used streaming services such as Spotify and created an entire customer journey experience through several channels of entertainment consumption to fan merch. He also used traditional methods to keep his new fans. He plans to start an AI record label in the near future. 

Mr. Hours' music and poetry often tackled important social issues that affected the African American community. His early days of motivational speaking can be heard and felt in many of his pieces. His unique blend of music and spoken word laid the foundation for the development of new talent and creating music with substance that people can enjoy. Meanwhile, music is going through its wave of new artists, creating catchy melodies but no substance. Hip hop has created many club songs. But thinking music as Mr. Hours therapy music is not common and is making a resurgence.

Jean ‘Mr. Hours’ Cherubin is a testament to the American Dream and the right to have free speech. He hopes that his contributions to music and poetry continue to inspire artists and activists now and in the future, and he hopes they use his style of art as a soundboard of expression. His goal is to leave behind a rich legacy of thought-provoking artistry.

He has opened a new phase of contemporary spoken word art.
