This is the title piece to the Christmas Cantata written by @tim-amukele. He asked me to orchestrate this piece, written in 5/4 time. It joyously celebrates the coming of Christ as a babe.

Chardonnay 2020

Short Humoresque #1

This piece depicts elementary children in school waiting for the bell to ring for recess. Once it rings, you hear their excitement as they run outside to play. You hear the older children (represented by the brass and bass drum and crash cymbal) come out to play as well. In the 'B' section, you hear a popular nursery rhyme thrown in the mix. The school bell rings, disappointing the children(signaled by the solo violin), who sadly line up to return to class. One student then remembers- lunch time is coming!

I created this piece in a response to the recent uptick in violence against African Americans. Each chime heard represents a life lost at the hands of police. You can put in any name you can think of to represent the chime. The choir voices heard represent the voices of those lives lost. Sandra Bland, George Floyd, Oscar Grant, Calvon Reid, and at least 1004 just in this year (https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/2019/national/police-shootings-2019/). 
I myself have felt threatened more than once by police and even was handcuffed in front of my mother for expired tabs( clearly my fault, but does it require handcuffs) or another situation where I was pulled over by 4 cop cars because of "burned out license plate lights" (they weren't burned out at all). The piano chords represent the wheels of justice churning and not changing (only two chords played throughout the entire piece). The vocal choir represents a requiem to those who have died and the last chord  is the cries of those who have been left to mourn and feel the loss of those who did not need to die.the soprano on top of the choir represents the mothers of those left to mourn their children. This is not a happy or light piece of music but one that leaves the listener with a question- if you are not a person of color and have never said anything but have friends of color, what are you going to do to change the narrative?

This was a short piece I started a while ago, couldn't sleep, and recently finished. I wanted a big choir sound- as though they were ending a Compline service in a large, reverberant cathedral. You also hear a full string orchestra in the background as the choir imitates what the orchestra plays.

Voices

This sketch started out with the idea of you being in bed, hear a strange noice, then footsteps but you're too scared to make a sound or move. It since has become a march- you determine who's marching and where they're going...

There (Ooh, Yea)

Please enjoy my virtual orchestrated track of the popular hymn "O Holy Night". I give the introduction a 'movie trailer-styled feel, which then morphs into the 1st verse. Cello, violin, oboe and English horns take turns on the verse while a solo flute introduces the chorus. After a modulation, the soprano takes the solo, followed by the choir and a large orchestral build up to the chorus. Another modulation and the chorus and soloist bring you to the exciting conclusion. Enjoy!

It's Not Too Late For Us

As a silent film score composer and performer, I enjoy touring and accompanying silent films on the theatre pipe organ. I am the former chairman of the American Theatre Organ Society (www.atos.org).
