Resident Evil - Mansion of Delete [No Sleep Demon] (OC Remix #4329)

Made with about a dozen pianos with different settings and in different places in the stereo field (dropping in mid-note in most cases). The original song is a modern classic, and has been remade and remixed thousands of times by now, so I wanted to make something I've never heard done.  Happy 25th to Mario 64, the game that changed everything.

Dire, Dire Docks - Bluesuperstructure (OC ReMix #4290)

Techno/EDM remix of  DataDyne Defection, the first level in Perfect Dark (N64). The original song is in the same key the whole time, so I focused more on tension and making interesting sounds here, rather than sprucing up the melodic arrangement.

Perfect Dark - Silent Disruptor (OC ReMix #4299)

Remix of Pirate's Grotto from TTYD. Lots of modular synthesis oscillations modified by control voltage in Reason, especially in the middle section.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door - Blotto Grotto (OC Remix #4330)

Remix of "Cave" from BotW, another great piece from that soundtrack that just barely has enough of a melody and chord progression to not be considered ambient (which makes it much easier to squeeze a remix out of). I think the original only plays in an actual cave once or twice in-game, but I still wanted to make a reverb-heavy, cave-like remix, with the distorted pan flute playing the piano chords and as much ear-candy as I could stuff into it without giving you cavities. A lot of pitch-shifting here, too, as send effects and as inserts, to make it washed-out sounding and not too slick.

A short podcast ep on Banjo-Kazooie, 24 years after it's North American release.

A reimagining of the Prelude (aka The Crystal Theme)from FFVI, using hundreds of very short clips of sustained piano notes and various field recordings done over the years (and over several different countries). Lot's of delay and reverb to up the melodrama.

Final Fantasy VI - Rainbow Forms (OCReMix #4378)

An experimental take on "North", one of my favorite songs from Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights. I used different reverb sends to simulate different rooms, with granular engines attached to said reverbs, feeding back into the track (a lot of other techniques were used too, but I already forgot half of what I did).

Remix of "Dark Sun Gwyndolin"/"Moonlight Butterfly" from Dark Souls, done in a kind of dark electronic waltz style. Synth strings to mimic a string quartet, with modular synth runs in the background.

An almost-medley of all kinds of Grant Kirkhope tunes!


Special Agents B and K aired from 1983 to 1986. An undercover detective duo that would pursue mysteries sometimes flavored with the surreal or supernatural, the series was praised for its original premise and strong performances.

Initially airing at 10 pm on Friday nights, the show was moved to a new time slot halfway through Season 2 and successfully found a larger audience. By Season 3, higher production values allowed for some episodes to be filmed on location in Tokyo, Glasgow, and Mexico City, and the theme song was altered in accordance with the show becoming more cosmopolitan. By Season 4, many in the cast sought to end the series and pursue new projects, and so the final episode, the 90-minute “Goodbye, Farewell and Guh-huh”, aired in May 1986.

A pilot for a spin-off aired in November 1986, but “Cold War Mole: Bottles in Budapest” failed to attract eyeballs and was canceled by the network.

Reworking of "Superior" from Dynasty Warriors 3. Tried to make it sound as authentically 80's as possible.

The Malie City theme from PKMN Sun and the Cave Theme from PKMN Red, but thrown into a food processor with the eternal Yellow Magic Orchestra's "1,000 Knives" (which was the first song to ever have a TR-808 in it!). 

I guess the Ryuichi Sakamoto version of "1,000 Knives"(the original version, in fact) has a extended guitar feature, so that influence crept in, too. Old school synths, bass arps, and big 808 drums galore!

Pokemon Sun & Moon: 999 Knives Of Yellow Magikarp Orchestra (OC ReMix #4153)

This is a post rock version of "Fall (Ghost Synth) from Stardew Valley, one of my favorite games of the last several years. I used a lot of Valhalla's Shimmer Reverb in conjunction with electric guitar in this track. Yes, that is my voice.

Metroid Prime 2: Echoes - Sanctuary Scrapbook (OC ReMix #4246)

A remix of "Rock Solid" from CBFD, (OST by Robin Beanland), heavily inspired by the work of Alva Noto, in both his Xerrox series and his work with Ryuichi Sakamoto. Each chord is assigned its own piano, and is chopped to pieces from there. In many cases these pieces are only 5 to 50 milliseconds. So it's a kind of granular synthesis, done manually, which of course takes ages. The poem in the track is "The Legend of the Crossbill" by Longfellow, read by my great grandfather from a cassette tape I found dated 1979.

Conker's Bad Fur Day - Xerrox Salad/Memories of Memories (OC ReMix #4173)

Medley of tons of different SEGA tunes with vibes from 90s DJ club sets I used to listen to.  "Space Trip Steps (Meteor Herd)" from SA2 provides a framework and it goes off from there. Got some Sonic 2, 3 & Spinball in there, plus Vectorman and Jet Set Radio as well!

Sonic Adventure 2 - SEGA Space Station Big Dome, 2094 (OC ReMix #4208)

Remix of "Lone Trooper", a great proto-synthwave track by Jarrid Mendelson from Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun. My version has a protagonist that's alone out in a vast wasteland filled with hostile machines. Or something. Lot's of reverb sends here, and I took a lot from Alva Noto's 'Unieqav' record for this re-imagining.
