This week we welcome an author you need to keep an eye out for, if you aren't already, Andrew Kirschner! He is the author and creative mind behind the Ms. Infinity series, which just recently nabbed #51 in Amazon's Bestsellers list for Superhero Fiction audiobooks--such an achievement! Andrew's work is breathing fresh air in this superhero genre that has swept across all platforms of entertainment for the past 20 years, and he doesn't plan on stopping!

What I admire the most about Andrew is his ability to keep marketing his books and finding new ways to bring more eyes to previous works while maintaining a great work ethic with new projects. He's just recently revamped the covers of the first three installments of the Ms. Infinity Saga (they look incredible by the way, definitely check them out) and he's hard at work with finalizing the audiobook versions of his other two books!

"Ms. Infinity: Earth's Greatest Hero" is the first book in the series with "Where Infinity Begins" and "Infinite Moon" respectfully making up the 2nd and 3rd legs of the saga. The series follows the life of Bonnie Boring and her alter-ego--Ms. Infinity. 

Andrew's wit and positivity radiate through his characters/world to create a work that feels real and tangible even though its subject matter revolves around larger than earth threats, superpowers, and nefarious villains. This week we welcome a spirtual powerhouse of an author and inspirational orator, Amukelani Makhuvela! She is the creative mind behind "Basket of Grief", a gripping tale that follows the lives of different indivuals which come together to forge a story that teaches us how to heal in the face of misery. Her works have been sold and featured in South African libraries since she was old enough to pick up a pen, so it was an absolute honor to speak with her.

Amukelani (outside of having an awesome accent--seriously, it makes everything she says that much more profound) is a government worker in South Africa when she's not crafting stories. She holds a degree in social science, obtained at the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT). Born in Mbokota village, in the Limpopo Province, she later reloacted to Gauteng Province, where she now lives with her family in the city of Tshwane. She describes herself as "a slave to the curiosities of her state of mind, which makes her love for writing grow each day."

Her love of Fantasy & Thrillers have molded her into quite an imagnitive storyteller, but the way she blends together South African lore and takes inspiration from real-life events is what makes her writing stand out--it's no wonder she was an Honoree for the 2021 African Authors Award! Eps. #97 | 2021 African Authors Award Honoree - Amukelani Makhuvela - Talks South African Culture

This week we have a fellow Star Wars nerd in our midst, so bring your lightsabers and alien-to-English dictionaries, 'cause it's about to get weird! Our guest, Matthew Romeo, is a Science Fiction and Fantasy author with a knack for swordplay. His first trilogy, The Maven Knight, is a fantasy set in a post-apocalyptic world where nanite storms cover the lands and heroes must rise to conquer a rising evil. He is also the author of The Outrider Saga and co-author of the Seawyth Chronicles, so if you haven't added any of his works into your TBR, you should be!

Maybe it was the Star Wars references, maybe it was how we had a huge nerd-bond--who knows--but whatever the reason, this conversation was a genuine blast to have. Matthew's wit and imagination have allowed him to create some truly jaw-dropping sequences within his stories, I felt like I had front-row seats to a movie premiere as he described some of them throughout the chat. We had some deep discussions on the nature of Science Fiction, shared some laughs, and even got a few words of wisdom from the young talent--what more could you ask for?
