Spookystuff

I was parked along Auburn Way and heard this train coming North on the mainline in the middle of the night, hence the near absence of automotive vehicle noises...  Recorded with electret condenser mics plugged into a Sony minidisc recorder sometime in the late 1990's... Note the incredibly loud whine coming from one of the engines. This train was pulling a fairly short manifest on nearly zero grade but the power was struggling to keep it moving, so I am guessing the whiny engine was experiencing something of a "technical difficulty", my guess being a short-or-open-circuit alternator winding...
