This one goes out to those who share a deep rooted notion of having no control over anything that transpires in our lives; as though fate exists, and we’re just following a timeline that has already been laid out for us. This has always pulled at my emotional strings, and made me question whether there is value in doing anything at all and whether or not I am really alive, or this is just an illusion. I was plagued by this feeling for years, drowning in existentialism, so I would chase the light in my dreams, holding onto a hope that it’d be there when I woke. I am stoked to say that it is now, and hopefully always will be, because I discovered that the light I was chasing, lies in letting go of the need for the answer.

This track is built upon the experiences of getting high, to leave your worries behind and search for peace of mind, but somehow, never seeming to find it in that way.  Getting high is a good way to unwind, relax and just simply enjoy existing, but it will never serve you as a true therapeutic experience, unless you have faced and conquered the underlying issues that you are dealing with in your life/mind.

I challenged myself on this one, to make a pop song, that still retained the SYZG sound I am building, and that will be showcased on my upcoming EP.  This is the first of a run of songs that will lead up to the EP.  

I call the song Way Back, because it is written about the overwhelming feeling of elation, and love, when you know you have found someone that you can't wait to look 'way back' on the journey you will have taken together, in the future.

This song is one written from the experience of genuinely feeling like I was close to death, and the resulting panic attack that followed, because I wasn't ready to accept death.  It is a part of my upcoming debut album, and is from the heart, telling the story of a young person who regrets not living their life to the fullest, because of warped self-perceptions and worrying about everything too much, instead of just fully immersing themselves in every moment.

Two Feet In the Heavens

So while I'm working on new music, for SYZG and other projects alike, I thought I'd drop some demo tracks of ideas that have now been lost to stupid mistakes or magically annoying things computers can do to lose our works.  This is the first of a few on the way, titled 'Stay the Same'.  It remains very much a demo, but it seemed a shame for it to go to waste entirely.

I'm a Perth/Freo dude, making music in my bedroom studio. I've adopted the name 'SYZG' (syzygy), which is defined as a pair of connected or corresponding things. 
 
I feel that I have found my own sound, blending psychedelic sub-genres to find my own place in the genre spectrum, and I hope you dig it.
 
I have a project in the works right now, which I will announce the details of in the near future. I can't wait to share it with you, and am working hard to finish it.
