This is the first installment of a series of Gatecrasher inspired Classic Trance mixes. Gatecrasher to me personally marked the beginning of a long journey into the very deepest echelons of the genre of Dance music. 
From listening to one of my mates' CD compilations through one earphone that I was sharing of his, I was hooked on this new kind of sound I had never heard before. After hearing this I then was made aware that this was a new movement of House and Trance music, and so I had to immerse myself in the best club experience, that I have still to this day, experienced in my life. There really is no way of being able to recreate those days in the Republic, other than gaining pure nostalgia from the treasured tracks that still stand strong today. Here is the second installment to my Gatecrasher Experiences series. This series will be focusing on the tracks that were one of the clubbing  pioneers of the best era of dance music, known as  Gatecrasher. I've recently been reading up on definitions of Trance music which may sometimes be considered the most ambiguous genre of dance music. "Trance is usually characterised as having anthemic, epic, rifting and psychedelic qualities with the term "Classic" for those songs that would truly describe what Trance was supposed to be."

Whilst I would generally agree with the description, Classics are subjective and it is down to personal preference. Good and bad music is what it has always been about for me. The good music is able to stand the ultimate test of time and even after many years, listeners can still clearly recall that distinct vocal hook or melody in the back of their minds.

I'm pleased to introduce you to the second volume of Classic Trance. I had a lot of fun reliving cherished memories whilst creating this mix during lockdown. The variety of tracks selected worked really well together and from the very start of those 3 hours, it clearly sets the tone of greater things to come. It's like a hypnotic rush of Trance bursting with all that energy and excitement!!

Eddie Swales' passion is trance music. 3 years ago he took the plunge and took a keen interest in DJing. 

Eddie Swales has a passion for the classics and a substantial back catalogue, influenced from the Gatecrasher era of the late 90s and early 2000s. His style is diverse and continues to evolve, playing tech, uplifting and vocal trance both classic and current.

Eddie quickly realised from his impressive reach with his mixes and radio shows that he had discovered a raw talent and an outlet for his love for all things trance.

2023 was Eddie’s breakthrough year. Following the success of his online mixes Eddie has gained a loyal and ever-growing fan base which was soon noticed by Scott Bond. Seeing his devotion to the music that fuelled a generation, Eddie was chosen to play a set at the after-party of the Rebooted event in Sheffield.

Following this he has also played at Anomaly’s ASOL, Binary Finary’s Classic Trance event Unified, Reminiscence, The Trance Empire and Club Classics, warming up for AJ Gibson, Lost Witness, Kyau & Albert, The Thrillseekers and Signum. Eddie has also played internationally for Euphoria Weekender in Malta and also One More Time in Ibiza

With his sights set on entering the realms of production in the future, Eddie continues to express his love for our favourite genre via as many avenues as possible.

"Tune selection really is an art and in order to get it right, it requires significant preparation and having the right amount of ingredients. It has always been about the journey. Therefore, variety is required to aid the listeners on their nostalgic fix with a torrent of dancefloor destroyers to those forgotten treasures which were unfortunately overshadowed at the time."
