The Camerata of The Research Group on Renaissance and Contemporary Music interpret one of the first instrumental pieces from western Europe written by the Veronese Italian composer Vincenzo Ruffo (c.1510-1587).

Mundos came as a necessity to express the hidden history of Peru, where I was born and raised. It did not take long to realize that the discovery of the Inca Empire by the Spanish hides a tragedy of the proportion of a holocaust, where more than 10 million indians were killed. Pututos, harps and voices are processed in a chronological discursive line were natural sounds are gradually subdued by technological ones. Thaks to Tito La Rosa for allowing me to record him playing the vasijas silbadoras, zampoñas and pututos.

Groenten (2010)

This is a 6-voice motet by Gioseffo Zarlino "Miserere mei, Deus". 4 of the voices are written in polyphony and the other 2 execute a cantus firmus in canon. It has 3 parts; this is the recording of the first part. The motet is written in the 4th mode with final E and, because of the use of low clefs, the GReCo Consort, composed by a full recorder consort, 4 singers and dulcian, is playing it a 4th higher in the tuning of mezzo-punto (a=465Hz).

Vivons-nous dans une chimère quand, selon Edgar Allan Poe, « Tout ce que nous voyons ou paraissons n’est qu’un rêve dans un rêve » ? Ou bien non, la réalité est réelle, nos angoisses ne dépassent qu’un état d’esprit, et, ceci étant, nous pouvons retrouver nos repères et de l’espoir en l’avenir ? À partir de cet imaginaire évoqué par le poème de Poe, quels mondes puis-je vous inviter à parcourir ? Des zones transitoires, où se déroule cette étrange lutte entre la vie et la mort, l’espérance et la désillusion, le présent et le passé, la réalité et le rêve. Un cri lancinant, amplifié et répandu dans tout l’orchestre qui ne cesse pas de se heurter, de s’épurer, de trouver d’autres significations, d’autres mœurs, d’autres habillages, d’autres profondeurs. Un seul cri, dévoilant de manière vertigineuse ses plus belles et plus sombres facettes.
