endless sky and wind-swept stage

I’ve scratched a living from this savage land,

running cattle on jimson and sage

I've been a rounder most of my life,

working ranches here and there

Just me and my horse on to the next drive,

a simple life, a simple prayer, now

Mornings around the cook fire,

shaking off the night’s cold

In red flannel, denim and chaps’ attire,

shaving my face and sure  lookin' old

Just a cowboy hoping for another day

Breaking horses, shooting coyotes, mending fences,

roping, branding and washing in the creek

All done to meet my meager expenses,

my life played out in cowboy speak
