This is the OST made for "Rushmore." This is a UCF student project completed in 16 weeks. I was in charge of Level Design, Sound Design, and QA. The soundtrack is inspired by the 80's inspired synth-wave/outrun genre of music. It uses Roland TR-808 inspired drums, snares, and high hats along with drums that contain reverb but have a threshold cutoff giving it an 80's feel. It also uses Roland JX-8P inspired synths. 
The "Main Menu and Goo Shop" sound is intended to be interesting enough to occupy the menu's while the player navigates through without being too much of a distraction. The tutorial music created to be very subtle so the player can focus on learning the game and not be distracted while also making sure the sound does not interfere or confuse the player. Both of these are made at 90BPM. Level 1 begins to show the outrun/synthwave inspired sound while the player traverses their first level at 130BPM. It fills the space with a continuous beat so the player can continue to learn and understand the game while also beginning to show the feel of the game as well as the sounds to expect. It fits perfectly with the neon-inspired city the player traverses. Level 2 provides a better sense of urgency as the presidents must fight aliens in order to save the world. Overall, it contains a darker tone to help signal to the player that the world is in danger. However, it still maintains an upbeat tone in certain part of the songs because the whole idea of the game is meant to be a little silly. After all, past presidents fighting future aliens is a little silly. Level 3 ups the BPM to 167, giving the player a higher sense of urgency and confidence as they traverse the last level now understanding how the game works and knowing that they must make this last level count in order to save the world. It's also the most exciting track in the game to help give importance to the significance of the level. Lastly, the Victory screen contains music that calms things back down, as the player has finally defeated all the aliens. It continues to use the same instruments but to a softer degree as the player is then teleported to the main menu.
