Primarily a fun song that takes a bit of humor from the experience of a guy who tried so hard to be a good husband, a good guy, but ultimately loses out. Bemoans all the sacrifices he made, yet he could never please his wife.

Leaving the church of St. Leonard’s in Downham, Lancashire by the south porch, you are met with the awesome sight of Pendle Hill. When the late Queen Mary, visited in 1938, she regarded it as, ‘The most beautiful view from any church porch in the land.’ Downham is also famed as the location for the celebrated sixties film: ‘Whistle Down the Wind,’ based on the book by Mary Hayley Bell. The film starred Alan Bates, Hayley Mills, Diane Holgate and Alan Barnes.
