flakebelly is a multi-instrumentalist songwriter and singer, exploring whatever musical styles suit him on any given day. Influenced by a lifetime listening to Syd Barrett, Miles Davis, The Smiths, Radiohead, The Beatles, The Cure, Led Zeppelin, Bert Jansch, Elliott Smith, Robert Johnson, Joy Division, Daniel Johnston, The Clash and many, many more. Finding guidence in the literary world as much as the musical with authors and poets such as Jack Kerouac, Rimbaud, E.E Cummings, Thomas Wolfe, Dostoevsky, Philip K Dick and on.

Always seeking new sounds and inspiration, his music carries a distinct flavour with jazzy pianos, soaring high-end vocals and sizzling blues guitar riffs framing his introspective, poetic lyrics. His songs are sometimes acoustic - drawing from the well of traditional finger-picked styles of the British Isles, and sometimes electric - allowing funky drumming, chugging bass guitar and his more indie-rock and psychedelic affectations to shine.
