Strategic Retreat 
This album is unlike anything that I have written before and breaks rules of strategy and genre. 
It was written as my mother was sick and eventually surccumb and passed on. This happened as Bermuda was having a surge of Covid cases, and Canada, where my Mom was livings on lock down. This led to the challenge of getting my Dad to Canada before my Mom died and dealing with the red tape. Once we figured out the process it took two applications to get it correct only to find that there were still documents missing when my Dad went to the airport, which had to be rectified, delaying his flight by a week. 
All this happened while I was under quarantine for possible contact with a student who had contracted the virus. 
My Dad was able to get to see my Mom just before she died. 
Also during this time a friend and fan “Binks” died suddenly. 
I work as a music teacher and did not take any time off during this time. Which included teaching online while we where in quarantine and lockdown. Taking time off would mean preparing lessons plans which would have been just as much work. 
My wife was a great support during this time and did her best to help, but music has always been my way to deal with things and escape. 
This, rather large, album was my way of dealing with a difficult time. While the world around me falls into chaos I can retreat into my own world of absurdism and music and emerge ready to deal with the next thing.

Nicola and Malcolm Brian Swan are two artists from UK and Bermuda who go by the name of 1undread. Their art is driven by the desire to create, linked to their very being. Sanity and soul, intertwined. A language constructed on a subconscious level. 1undread take sound as an alphabet of their language and form new words in order to share ideas and emotions. Without music, these artists would cease to exist. It’s like molecules shaking in different ways, vibrations that influence our minds sending different messages through the linear motion of time. By creating music that does not fit into any prefabricated category 1undread inevitably causes change and forward movement. The repetitive momentum in their music represents the cyclical aspects of time. Minutes, hours, days, months, seasons, years, a journey around the sun. On this meta level, their music incorporates concepts from different cultures and is constantly evolving. It therefore represents life and the struggles within. 1undread would like to inspire
their listeners with what they provide.

Their EP “Normal” includes 4 well chosen tracks that represent their musical flavour and take the listener on a journey into their mind and consciousness. Nicola Swan’s voice floats over magical soundscapes that Malcolm Brian Swan provides and arranges. The EP is to be released on 13 December 2013 on Tales From The Inside and will be available on every online music store.
