When Thou urge me all to forsake?

Why shouldn’t I when Thou’st left all?
Just for me to gain.

Just let me see Thy Face
Just let me see Thy smiling face.

On earth am sorrowed yet I have the Lord
Displeased should I be when Thou art with me? 
Heart's satisfied in Thy presence
All that's dark, in Thy smile there's light
*So now if all leave, who or what
Why should I be in sorrow when 
Thy good will is done?
What more should I search for
When there's help in Thy Face
When there's help in Thy smiling face.

I longed at first for ease and comfort
Love grew intense, to labor I then sought
Now I seek, not ease nor labor
Should I go, when my Lord saith "stay"?
*So if Thou said "suffer a bit"
Then I'll sit in Thy appointed place!
At Thy sign I'll go
I'll labor abundant
'Tis joyful with Thy face,
'Tis so sweet with Thy smiling Face.


Is it not so sweet to be trained today
In Your presence unseen yet intimate? 
Face to face, daily and private
Thou shall know us when  we meet Thee.

To know, converse, behold Thy face
